When my February BH&G American Patchwork & Quilting came I fell in love with the cover. On page 48+ it is shown in entirety and I do believe it will be fun to make. I like those shades of red.
I did finish making the place mats and a few round center pieces and napkins to match all. So with the 40 mats and several center pieces I am indeed ready for Christmas. I had found a sewing box of my Mother's (she died in 1980 at 84 years) and she had some lovely laces so I made two extra white back ground place mats and trimmed them with the special lace and sent them to Creston, Iowa, to my 92 year old sister Dorothy. I heard back from her husband via e-mail that they loved them. That made the whole tiring process worth the energy. She's older than I am, as in April I will be only 88 years.
On April 2nd 1922, my mother was giving a tennis lesson on the court by Dick's store in Killduff, Iowa, and she went home to make my dad's lunch and birth me instead. In the years that passed I never learned if my Dad ever got his lunch. Such an omission.
Anyway, there it is. I drove to Fargo in the head rain storm yesterday for cardiac rehab and then picked up my Janome machine from Blow's where it was cleaned and in shape after all the embroidering. After I fancy up a few finger towelswith the linen left over from the napkins I will get down to the pulling all reds out of my bins of materials and see just how "red hot" I can make this new quilt project.
