The Follow Up Christmas Project

Thank you all for your responses to my Christmas Project of decorating place mats with Christmas theme pictures and words. They are all trimmed and tidied up and on to napkins to match the main color of each Mat. I have a Nelco Serger in the other side of my sewing room that has been carefully covered for more than a year or so but those instruction books are wonderful reminders of the Art. So now I have napkins cut out for 36 (I made a few more mats) white, red and green napkin square about 17 inches and am finishing off the edges. I have doubled the material on those I couldn't find Linen for. I've had a few set backs, but I'll get them done by the end of the month.

Beware of the contaminates at some beauty salons.... had to use Nitro to recover from the exposure last Thursday. I hope with the help of God to get back to cardiac rehab tomorrow. But HOW am I to get my hair fixed this week???? When I was young and with many children I used to wash my hair in the shower, give my head a few shakes and call it my busy Mother hair do. Can I get by with that at age 87 1/2 ?

I sure enjoyed looking at all the lovely quilts on your website. Such an inspiration!

I also have problems with the chemicals they use at beauty salons, but I only get headaches from them. My solution is to grow my hair out for charity (Locks of Love). Since it takes me two years to grow my hair long enough, I don't have to get it cut very often! Unfortunately, when it gets longer than about shoulder length it also drives me nuts to take care of.

My goodness, Rhoda. I'm betting that at 87½ you can get away with just about anything. If you want a busy mother style, go for it. Probably you could call around and find a hair stylist that would come to your home and do a cut that would look wonderful and be easy care. While you're serging Christmas napkins, do make a few extra. They're great for lining cookie tins for an extra special gift. Polly

With the price of linen these days, I'd better find a better use for the napkins than liners. But thanks anyway.

It's so nice to be able to talk with you ladies who know what we sewers strive for.

Oh mercy, no. I wasn't thinking 'Linen'. For the cookie tin liners, I thought as long as you had the serger up and running, you might make some squares with Christmas cotton prints. Last year, I ran out of the candy cane print and simply used the red print with big ants walking around. Polly

Do you have photos up yet, Rhoda? I didn't see any in a quick visit to your site, but I could have been looking in the wrong place.

Howdy!

Your Christmas Project sounds wonderful, Rhoda. Good for you, and what joy for the happy eaters who use them.

Hair: do what works for you. Shampoo, rinse, shake & go: yes! Of course, I come by the name Ragmop naturally. (Like our pets, one look names the animal.) The entire hair salon thing just passed me by; I don't get it, it's just hair. ;-) My mom still goes to "the beauty parlor"; she went to the same woman, Donna, for years. I could tell Donna's customers at a glance, they all looked like they shared the same hair. At 87 1/2, you can get away with whatever look pleases you.

Cheers! Ragmop/Sandy - enjoying the cool autumn weather (today)

What a lovely idea. I can visualize it even now.

If I had a digital camera I could take pictures nd put them up on Webshots...but alas I am such a spend thrift on other thing I never seem to budget out a new camera. It was even on my list for today but was too tired after cardiac rehab to detour to the K-Mart in Dilworth, MN.

Maybe next time. I will take pictures with my 35 MM but it will be a while.

Rhoda.

I would think when you are 87 1/2 you could do whatever your little heart desires! That's what I plan on doing when I get there--only 20 odd years to go!!
