Here's a good overview of what I'm currently battling. A little miracle would be nice right about now. In between fighting this, I am working on a wall hanging my granddaughter designed. Yikes, it is actually starting to look a little dusty there under the needle! Yes, a little miracle, sooner rather than later. 'Preciate and love each and every one of you.
I have a friend battling the same illness. The good news is she's been able to figure out what she can and cannot eat and is feeling better now than she has in quite a while. I pray a miracle comes your way soon and you'll be feeling better!
Karen, leaky-gut syndrome is often associated with rheumatoid arthritis. Have you been tested for RA? I know that treatments for autoimmune diseases are just about all miserable, but RA can very quickly assume life-threatening potential. I hope you are working with a good medical doctor who is helping you explore alternative treatments.
Yes, I've figured out what I can eat now too. Only about 8 - 10 things total. About every 5 - 7 days I try to add a new food, but haven't been able to yet. Physically I don't feel too bad most days now, not great, but better than before and I'm grateful for that, believe me! Thanks, Louise, I appreciate those prayers.
Um, doc, that's IgA, not IgS. sorry. Since I tested positive for many foods on the IgE, it indicates the IgA is off also. Same with IgG, but we didn't do that one.
I'm not saying you don't have leaky gut I'm not saying it's not a bonafide syndrome (albeit hotly contested).
I will say you've lost me on this testing & diagnosis. At one time, DW thought (was convinved) I had it. From what I learned, it is VERY difficult to accurately diagnose, and (keeping in mind I am NOT a medical doctor) the test you mention is not conclusive. Urine & stool tests are mentioned.

The standard test for leaky gut syndrome is the mannitol and lactulose test. ....
But maybe you're up on all that and it's been done.
Turns out I had (I believe) IBS. The SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) cured it in me. N.B: May only work for 10% of those who try it - may be due to difficulty in adherence. Worth looking into if your gut is a significant problem. Nice thing about it is, it may not work, but it can't hurt.
Karen, I meant 'alternative' as in 'alternatives to traditional medical treatments'. I consider holistic, natureopathy, homeopathic and most Eastern medicine to be 'alternative' because it's not based on Western medical science. Just a way of differentiating types of medical treatment.
