OT- Kate Dicey

Hi,

Mostly I've lurked, but after reading the posts today, I have to say this.

I've ALWAYS enjoyed reading Kate's posts. She is such an interesting and creative person, and shouldn't we be celebrating that? Don't we all want to get together with people who are creative and interesting, or do you want to stick with people who spend their lives being boring? That's why we've had discussions in the past about stashes, sewing rooms, sewing machines, etc. I really like seeing pictures of other's sewing rooms, and like looking at their shelving, tables, little personal doo-dads, etc. Personally I don't care WHAT someone sews, as long as they do it! I don't even care what other craft someone does, as long as they do something! If someone makes stained glass, or pottery, or jewelry, or teddy bears, or...........quilts, I'll find them interesting. I have lots of family members who spend all of their time in front of the tv watching boring shows, and I'm with them because I love them, but I couldn't say that they are interesting. If I ever went to Kate's house, I'd be looking at all her things she's made, her stash which is probably really fascinating, and all the little doo-dads that give our sewing rooms personality, and I'll bet she has lots of "findings"

- special laces, and buttons, and ribbons, etc. We know for sure she has chocolate!

So...................let's continue on being "interesting people", and no more whining.

Welcome to the cyber quilt frame - you probably know where the chocolate os...

Do tell us a bit more about yourself and what you are working on right now. It's not that we are a nosey bunch... No! I cannot lie! We ARE nosey - but in the nicest possible way! ;)

If you go to those pix of the sewing room tidying episode (which didn't last!), you will see a pile of boxes of thread, buttons, lace and trims, all sorts I save for the kids to use, and to put on costumes. I LOVE that stuff! My quilty stash is NOT large, but the fabric for costumes and clothes is... spacious!

I too love seeing what others are doing - i have a LOT of catching up to do on that front! I also love to see other people's work space, and am constantly amazed at how much they fit in to their space. MUCH tidier than me!

Thank you for the complements: I like creating things, and love to teach others to tap into their creative streaks.

Oh what! As one quilting community, we share our joys and our troubles on here. It would be wonderful if everyone had good days every day. But life is not like that. So we might have the occasional whine. So bloody what? I welcome you to RCTQ, Diane. Instead of whining about us whining, why don't you introduce yourself properly and tell us the interesting stuff you've been doing lately.

I've been to Kate's house and, YES, it is interesting and just as wonderful as she is!!! She puts me to shamde with all the creative things she does and teaches, etc. Scads of energy!!! and her DH and son are terrific, too.

Thank you Mim. It was so nice meeting you, and I HAVE to have another meet up soon! Pity it doesn't look like being at quilt show time at the NEC, but hey - can't have everything!

Maybe at Hever in the autumn - little Sis wants to go to that one!

Maybe in the spring -- I'm going to the quilt show in The Hague, I think.

I've decided to start my own sig flag -- Wendy suggested it when I couldn't bring TDB to Raleigh last weekend. It's a piece of batik that I got in Bali -- delicate sunrise shades with a streak of the green flash of sunset that I didn't see.

I need to see every one again so I can have a full flag. VBG I met a great couple yesterday (I had to work) that go walking in the UK every year so we traded favorite pathway stories. Their favorite place is in Kent.
