OT: My GRRRRRR Update

HI Everyone,

One more week until the move date. Have been packing like mad. So far have made 7 trips to Goodwill with more on the horizon. 2 trips have been made to the library to donate books to the Friends of the Library, and a trip to the used bookstore to sell a few of the books. I started packing the food today and will HAVE to finish tomorrow as they are coming on Wednesday to tent the house for termites. I live only 4 miles from the beach and every house gets to deal with this wonderful activity. I signed a lease over the weekend on a house. It is 1500 square feet smaller than this one-- no family room, 3 less bedrooms. It has a kitchen that has been highly upgraded, over the fireplace instead of a mantle is a waterfall, there is a small dog run for my QI, it is in a 55+ area. On top of that, I registered to go back to school in January. I will be working on my Early Childhood Development permit (in other words, I will have a permit from CA to teach pre-school). Have not been a full time student since my pet T-Rex ran for town mayor.

I will try to stop by soon. Looks like I should have internet installed the day I move so I will be able to drop in rather quickly after I get to the new place.

There! You *did* it. All in a week. That is really, really heroic activity. Well done you. Lots of positives here - an amazing turn-around. I always knew you were courageous, but this beats the lot. Three cheers for you, Debbi. May this new start give you much happiness. . In message , Debbi in So CA writes

Oh my gosh Debbie. You have accomplished so much in such a short time. The future was looking pretty dim a week or so ago & I would say that things are really looking up now. One thing I love about moving is getting rid of all that stuff that we should have gotten rid of years ago, but somehow, it's hard to part with!

What city are you moving to? And how did things work out with your son - is he coming with? Or is he moving in with the dad? Congrats on enrolling in school. Things seem to be falling into place - I'm glad you don't have that worry of where to go or what to do with yourself.

Do keep us posted - I hope wonderful things are on the horizon for you!

Thanks for the update - you've made a lot of progress in the last week or so. Good for you!

How long is the program to get your Early Childhood Development permit?

Oh, Debbi, I'm *so* glad you've found a place that sounds so nice! Yes, it's smaller, but that means so much less to clean! Good luck with the classes!

Pauline,

Moving a big 10 miles to Mission Viejo! Beautiful city, listed as one of America's safest cities. I will miss the ocean breezes, but 10 miles really is not too bad to drive, especially since I can do it all with surface streets and not deal with I-5 if I don't want to.

24 units. They say it takes 1 1/2 years, but I plan to go to summer school and try to be done by next December

After ten years of only says things like "stop", "no-no!", "get that out of your mouth", and "you're going to poke your eye out", both my sister and I decided to return to college. Not being able to go to the bathroom when I wanted to was my greatest challenge. Memorizing was hers. She had to carry a tape recorder and play it over and over for the lessons to stick in her mind. When exam time arrived, we were told that we could have done better if we'd just closed our eyes and checked randomly. That's what we'd done. After a while, we settled in and managed to exceed all those young whipper-snappers in grade points. You can do it too. Polly

Wow, Debbie! You have accomplished a lot! Good for you.

And, good luck on the classes starting in January. You'll have time to get semi-settled in before buckling down to schoolwork.

That's my old home town, except I didn't live in the senior area. lol Mission Viejo is not shabby and compared to here in the high desert you do get ocean breezes there. ; ) Hope the move goes smoothly. BTW, how big is the small house you are moving in to? Less space means less cleaning. NOt a bad thing at all. I bet you are 5 minutes from dad's place now. You must be in Casta del Sol? He is near Jeronimo and Alicia. Terbear lives really close there too I think.

Yes, I will be in Casa del Sol. New house is 1279 square feet.

That's not a lot smaller than my house! We have just under 1500 sq. ft. -- lots less to clean. ;)

It is nice there. That sounds like a great size house. Big enough but not too much cleaning. There are 3 people and 4 animals in my under 1400 sq. ft. house so I guess everything is relative. Wishing you good luck in all your new moves and changes. I hope this is the beginning of some very happy times for you Debbi. Taria

Glad to hear you've found a new place, Debbi. I can tell you have a lot of grief over leaving your house, but your new place sounds really nice. The waterfall is fascinating!

Wow, a new house and a new adventure. So terrific that you're working for Early Childhood Development permit.

Hope everything goes smoothly on moving day!

It is a nice size, just a big difference from the 2700 I have now. I have a huge room as a sewing room now, but that will be condensed-- but I refuse to not quilt so you guys will not be getting rid of me.

Just spent all day with Mom-- we got the food all bagged so that they can tent the house tomorrow. Have to move some boxes of liquor next door tonight. Still have to toss junk in the outside refrig.

Hopefully, I will be able to check in over the next few days since I will be using Mom's computer and don't know if I can get the groups on it. If not, I will check in with you over the weekend just so that you know that I did not forget to move me when they come to put on the tent.

poor woman in this sewing room must be nuts!I have sewn in small corners of the living room, bedroom, family room and anywhere else I could over the years. Most creative time has nothing to do with the size and space. You are going to do well Debbi. We are all here to cheer you on.

Good luck > It is a nice size, just a big difference from the 2700 I have now. I

There's an anecdote in Robert Chambers' "Traditions of Edinburgh" about a cobbler who spent his whole life working in an asymmetric niche in front of one of the buildings in the High Street, so he had to lean to one side all day. By middle age he was permanently tipped to that side even when walking down the street.

I hope she's at least wearing a hard hat.
