OT:need prayers, please

As most of you all know I have really bad glaucoma and had surgery for it last year on both eyes and the surgery was not successful. About two weeks ago I went to a doctor that has done some extensive "extra" training in treating people with it and she recommended more surgery so this Friday, March 30, I am having surgery on one of my eyes. I am a little scared but right now they say this is the last surgery I can have done. They are actually going to do two surgeries at the same time on the eye and two on the other one probably in about a month. So this has put another halt to my cutting and sewing although I have cut and sewn some now. Friday is also my birthday but he wanted to do this surgery very quickly, so I agreed to have it done that day, the last thing I want is to be blind and without it I will be. Actually, I am going back to my regular eye doctor for the surgery because the glaucoma specialist is 4 hours away vs. this one that is just a little under 2 hours away. The doctor said that she trained my regular eye doctor so she knows he is good and can do a good job and that made me feel a lot better. The hospital she works at is a teaching hospital and I just would rather not have a resident or student messing with my eyes. Jacqueline in Kentucky, USA

Best of luck Jacqueline. As one of the side effects of long term diabetes, sight loss terrifies the heck out of me.

Just think what a wonderful birthday gift your sight will be when you get out of surgery.

{{{{hugs}}}} prayers and good thoughts are on their way. I hope this is successful as that would be a great birthday present! =20

Don't be afraid to voice your concerns to the doctor about having the doctor do the surgery rather than a resident.

Sharon,

Thank you so much, I have had the eye problem since I was 25 years old didn't develop diabetes until I was 49, and I was told long before that to expect to lose my eyesight because the meds didn't work. I am already thankful to have kept my sight longer but would like to have it the rest of my life.

Jacquel>Best of luck Jacqueline. As one of the side effects of long term diabetes,
