OT: No news yet....

I'm still battling my neck and left arm pain. Yesterday I had an EMG on my left arm (basically -- a series of shocks to various spots on my left arm and neck... then a series of needle insertions (into the muscles) in the same general locations. Not a pleasant afternoon.

Then a trip into a Detroit suburb at 10:30 last night for an MRI (couldn't do the local one -- as the last time (my first time) I discovered that at least in that situation... I am EXTREMELY claustrophobic!!). Don't know anything about what that entailed. I do know that 2 years ago -- the MRI disclosed I had a bulging disk at C7. But the pain and other symptoms wasn't as severe or long lasting then.

So for now, I continue on pain meds (lots of 'em) to get me through the day. When I have to drive somewhere to get Ryan where he needs to be... no meds... so that means lots of pain. UGH!! I have to have him in Cincinnati Monday morning... so I am definitely NOT looking forward to the drive tomorrow. I know when we get to the hotel tomorrow night... I'll pop my meds and crawl under the covers for sure.

So keep your fingers crossed they figure this out... so I can move on! This is certainly NO FUN!!! (not only can I barely do normal chores like meals, cleaning and cooking... more importantly .... I can't sew!!!!!!)

Ouch Kate, that sounds horrible. Sorry they can't diagnose yet; it's a worry as well as painful. Hope they (and you) soon get some answers and healing treatment. . In message , Kate G. writes

Hi Kate, I soooo understand what you are going through. I was flat on my back all summer with my back. I have several ruptured disc and a cyst on my spine. As you said the test are no fun. Where do you live? I am in Waterford MI. Hopefully we are not to far apart. I am just now slowly getting up and moving around. I am feeling better right now than I have for years literally. I have to admit that working on all the fabric the last several weeks has set me back a little. I do hope the drs. can quickly pin point what the problem is and get it fixed for you. julia

Well for Pete's sake... we're less than an hour apart! I'm in Brighton --- right near where I-96 and US 23 cross...

So what is your favorite Quilt Shop over in that neck (or should I say the "thumb) of the state? My actual favorite shop is over in Tecumseh -- about an hour SW of me... have you ever been there?

Anyway -- we'll need to schedule a meet up one of these days -- when both of us are back to normal..

Take care, neighbor!!!

Kate I feel for you. I am extremely claustrophobic too so anytime I have to have an MRI or anything like that done I have to take Valium. Not a pleasant feeling. Although the new open MRI's are not so bad and I can deal with them a lot better.

I have herniated disks at C5-6-7 and L4-5. When I finally got to bed this morning the cervical area was so irritated that I was in tears. I couldn't get comfortable in any position. Don't know how I finally got to sleep other than just sheer exhaustion. I just hate to get back on the pain pills but I guess I'll have to. So here's tons of prayers, hugs and good thought for you to get better quickly cause I know that pain you're going through.

Hugs, Mika

Mika & Kate: I can relate to the pain this weekend too. I'm with you Mika, I hate the pain pills but had to give in this afternoon and take one. Want so badly to finish my friend's backing for her quilt, but it will have to wait; basic measurements are a challenge, as is the arm work. I hate pain!!!!!

Hang in there gals!!!! We'll make her, right? Dreamweaver

Oh, Kate, I feel for you. My DH has a chronic bad back. Back surgery (fusion) last summer didn't seem to help much. If he stays flat in bed or if he takes enough pain med, he can kind of function, but that is no way to live your life.

I truly hope you find some relief with no nerve damage in the process.

Cindy
