OT Polly has a camera

You asked for it and it could be that you are going to get it. Pat on Her Hill persuaded me that I didn't need to learn how to shoot high-level complicated things. All I want to do is take simple pictures and send them. That's all. I got truly jealous when Carole sent me a picture of an afghan she'd made for NIN. Then Val sent me a picture of her QI Frank laughing. I want to do that too. So. Researched. Bought camera. Camera instructions and CD useless. Step one. Charge battery. Where in the Sam Hill does the battery go and how do you open the slot to get it there? When is it charged? When it's quit blinking? I guess. Doesn't say. Next. Turn on camera. How? No on / off switch. Power? Yes. That might work. Aim camera. Press something. Don't know where it is. The softwear is loaded. Along with it has appeared Web Surf and Quick Time. What are they and do I need them? Says I can't open it without the password? What password? I am surviving this. Managed to send Val a picture of my sewing room floor. Lucky Val. The very next time that cute little toddler appears on a tv commercial sending pictures of her gold fish to her granny, I am going to stomp a mud puddle dry. This doesn't need to be so aggravating . . . but we shall overcome. Polly

Woo Hoo! Polly's got a camera! Hey, if I can figure one out, so can you. Sometimes I wish I were 11 again. I have a nephew that age who knows more about how to operate my camera and DH's Palm than I'll ever know (and to make this a little on topic, he likes to sew too - hasn't made a quilt yet, but I haven't given up hope).

What a wonderful day!!!! It will take a bit of study to get it figured out, but I have great faith you'll be just fine. Woo hoo!!!!

Ah but there's going to be such benefits. Right now I have a Wounded Warriors quilt up on the design board. It's a red, white and blue log cabin plus there's an eagle with olive branch, arrows and stars. It would be so nice if I could show it to you and you could guide me on arranging the logs and placing the eagle. And yes, Louise. It would be helpful if I were eleven years old. Polly

It's only Day 1, Polly!! You spent a lot of time learning to sew and quilt - little bit by little bit! Some of the instructions will be intelligible, if you don't try to 'take in' every bit of every page! You will indeed overcome. This is a grand day for us all ... ... . Our first glimpse into Polly's world! I'm so excited! It's a beautiful floor, Polly, and it is in focus! Which used to be one of the hardest things to learn, although those new fangled camera's make it much easier!

Welcome Polly! It's gonna be great to see you!

It took me a while to figure out what you mean by lino but I'm guessing you mean the floor. You bet your boots it is nice. It took an awfully long time to find just the right one. Carpet was impractical with the gators tracking in sand; they are such slobs. Hardwood and stone are cold and noisy. We wanted soft, warm and quiet, and if a great-grandbaby spills his pudding, no problem. Polly

The floor guy really should enter his skill at Paducah. There's about a

100' run from the butler's pantry across through other rooms and we are dazzled by how he placed every piece spit-spot perfectly. Wonder if he would like to learn to quilt? Polly

"Roberta" OOOh, nice floor!(Would make a pretty quilt done in subtle

Yes, Roberta, that *was* a pig flying by. May be a month or so before you see another one. It will happen. Polly

"Roberta" Wow -was that a pig I just saw flying by? I am soooo proud of you for

And once you get it arranged, you can take a picture of it, so that if you get mixed up, you can look at the picture. Or you can take pictures of each arrangement you think is a possibility so that it's easy to go back and review them or pick the one you like best.

Well, Julia! I could, couldn't I? I'd forgotten that was a possibility. Sometimes the whoosh of a Yorkie racing by the design board causes the bottom row of carefully arranged blocks to tumble to the floor. A picture would be such a help. Glad you reminded me. Polly

I am impressed Polly. We would make a good team. I can take an ok photo with the simple digital camera here but have yet to learn how to liberate them from the camera. DH gets bugged a lot but is chicken to attempt to teach me. I have no doubt you will do fine. I am looking forward to seeing photos of your wonderful work. btw, you did a splendid job of choosing new flooring. It looks really nice. Taria
