OT -- questions about QI

The cat could get strangled or lose a leg to gangrene that way.

My Ishmael picked a fight with ten feet of unrolled duct tape when he was a kitten. The duct tape won. It took about ten minutes to cut him free and he had a snip-at-random punk haircut when I'd finished.

That's why I said "masking tape," and I was thinking I should reiterate that last night. Use a lightweight paper tape that the cat will tear through easily. I've never seen a cat get hurt this way, or even stay tangled for more than a matter of seconds, and I've been doing it for years. The cat's not going to stay tangled anymore than a cat would stay tangled in a sheet or blanket, and is not any more dangerous than leaving your bathrobe with a detachable belt in a cat's reach.

By all means, don't use duct tape or plastic tape, any tape that doesn't tear, or any tape with a strong adhesive, and do use common sense.

Yes, I certainly would avoid duct tape, that is too nasty. I had planned on using 1/2" masking tape with very light tackiness. Now as I type, I think I might even use the 1/4" wide masking tape I have in stock for quilting. Enough to discourage them without doing any damage. And I will make the rings small enough that a kitty head won't fit through. But for now we have a more serious problem - the flea infestation. Vet has told us they can come in many ways, on our shoes, or even through a co-worker!

Mickie, going to have to take another look at those co-workers

An excess of caution, to be sure, but nothing's too good for our little furbags! Personally, I make the tape loops very large.

I don't know what your area is like, but if you didn't have fleas before, then you can hope to be free again. With work. And patience. ;-) I solved my flea problems by putting Frontline on the cats, waiting a couple of days, putting the cats in their carriers, putting the carriers in the car (with the windows down, of course) or the garage, flea-bombing the house, leaving. Twice. During the course of a couple of weeks. No more fleas.

Good luck!

My sons' father once got fleas from hunting and skinning game. He called our doctor all in a panic and the doc advised him to wear a flea collar for fourteen days. I am convinced the doc was being sarcastic, but the ex did it. Quite the classy look for any man!

May I suggest some hot-fix crystals and jewels to jazz up *your* flea collar? LOL

She will rotate sleeping spots often throughout her life, totally normal.

I think she drinks out of the other dish to be closer to the dog, and she cleans up after the dog is her way of being part of the family.

Cats sometimes think they are people, or at least try to be. So she likes piano, some like rock, some like country music. Their responses are just as varied as a room full of people. I like this about cats, it makes them interesting.
