OT San Diego - hotel

Hi, just another question concerning our holidays. We want to spend the last 3 days in San Diego and found ( with rctq-help :-)) ) the Best Western Blue Sea Lodge. Does anybody know if the beach is that beautiful as it looks ? What I mean is, is there an industrial port just beneath it or something like that, what you don't see on the photo. Thanks very much Heidi from Germany

San Diego beaches are some of the most gorgeous I've been to and living in Southern California my whole life, I've seen a lot of the beaches.

I've stayed in this hotel a couple of times, and the beach was beautiful, all I can remember is sand and water.

Hi, thank you again :-) Will try to book us a room there . I hope they still have vacancies left. And the Zoo and Rosie's are on our list , or better Rosie's and the Zoo ( from my point of view ) Heidi from Germany schrieb:

We did Zoo, Seaworld (loved the Dolphins) and the Old Town (open air museum of 'how it was'. All highly recommended. Would love to go back.

This was 10 years ago, before I knew about Rosies!

Heidi,

While at Rosie's ask if they still have their San Diego fabric. A few years ago, Rosie contracted with Hoffman to create a fabric with different scenes of San Diego on it.

[Digs through the stash for her piece.]

The zoo (plus flamingoes -- which you will see when you first enter the zoo -- and Pandas), the skyline including the San Diego-Coronado bridge, Sea World, San Diego State University, the La Jolla coast, a US Navy ship, a tall sailing ship (probably the Star of India), the US-Mexican border, the Hotel del Coronado, the Naval Training Center, fireworks behind the roller coaster at Mission Beach (the beach immediately south of Pacific Beach, the Point Loma lighthouse.

And a picture of the front of Rosie's Calico Cupboard!

It makes a great souvenir!

August is great beach weather in San Diego. May, June, and even into early July are frequently foggy and cool. The water will probably be its warmest in August...*maybe* up to 70F/21C.

(Waves at Yvonne and remember that Yvonne used to live in San Diego...and I used to live in Ramona.)

Bert (aka Roberta) in Colville, WA, where all the beaches are on lakes

Oh, that sounds great, a San Diego fabric .... which gives me a new idea. Of course I plan to stock up my stash in general during our trip, but now I have an extra project to buy fabrics for. A US_vacation_2006_memorial_quilt Can't wait.....
