OT: Sick again...laying low

Hi, I'm stupidly sick again. Kidney and UTI infection. I'm back on Cipro.... two weeks. I know it's a strong drug because I'm totally nauseous.

I've got a fever and I'm just a mess so I'm going to be out of commission for a while. Know that I'll keep praying for all and sending good wishes and congrats to all.

Sunny, I go on Cipro quite a few times each year for the same reason- sometimes for a whole month. Try taking it right after a meal. That helped my nausea a great deal. For all the good things it does in curing the UTIs it's a misery in itself. Best wishes for a speedy recovery and getting back to your life. (If you are having a lot of these infections you may need to get more testing done. My recurrent infections lead to tests which showed chronic kidney failure due to meds I took for arthritis.)

Only way I can take that med is to take a Reglan 30 min before. Reglan makes me sleepy but so do anti-biotics. At least I can take the med if I do that, if I don't, I can't.

why do you say "stupidly" sick again? Kidney and UTI infections don't sound like anything you've done. Now if you're like some people I know, who do wayyyy too much spring cleaning in one day and then suffer incredibly for the next few days - THAT could possibly be called, well, I don't like the word stupid, so how 'bout impulsive? I'm sorry you have to go on cipro, Sunny, and will definitely be praying for you. Go sit in the sunshine for a half hour and recharge. Musicmaker.

Sunny, I'm sad to hear you are so sick. I will be sending prayers your way for a quick recovery.

You mentioned having side effects from your antibiotic. An anti-biotic is like a bomb... killing bacteria. Strong bacteria need strong antibiotics. But some bacteria are necessary to digestion, etc.

Do you know about pro-biotics?

Take a PRO-biotic any time you need to take an anti-biotic. In addition to helping to prevent nausea, it will also help to prevent thrush or yeast infections.

Used to be you could find pro-biotics only in health food stores, but now many grocery stores carry them.

Hope you feel better soon.
