OT: therapeutic gloves

Looking for some recommendations....do any of you use therapeutic gloves? If so, what kind do you have and what are the pros and cons? I'm looking to get a pair of therapeutic gloves due to arthritis in my hands...esp. my fingers. =20

Irene, have you tried vitamin D? I'm the worst person in the world about being against taking pills of any kind but my young doctor suggested that I try it before we resorted to anything else. I guess it took about a couple of weeks but the relief is just incredible. Before the 'D', my hands were only happy if I was holding a cup of hot coffee but the D did the trick. I don't know if there are any bad effects of taking it and perhaps you'd want to research it first but it sure did tend to the arthritus problem for me. It did Not make me 5'10" and blonde (my goals in life) but my hands are comfortable now. Polly

I WAS 5'10" and blonde - and it wasn't permanent. I am now bent and grey just like we all get eventually rofl!

A magnetic wrist band also helped me. Apparently it is supposed to improve circulation. Magnetic therapy is one of those things that some swear by and others shrug off. I was of the latter group, but I cannot speak highly enough of the magnetic underlay on my bed. It really has helped me enormously. And the wrist band also helped to keep my hands from going blue with cold and lack of circulation. YMMV

I have the Handeze ones. They are like..um...girdle material...but the glove is fingerless so I don't know if that would work for you. I get them at Joann's with my coupon.

I posted a while ago...last time this topic came up probably...about some gloves mentioned in an NQA magazine. They were heavier duty; more of a fleece type material. Maybe a hunt through the archives as I have no clue where that magazine is at the moment.

Hi Polly,=20

Yes I do take it but don't seem to get the relief you have experienced.

What I have are 400IU tablets, and the dosage on the bottle is one tablet a day. Is this what you take?

I just hate the way my hands feel sometimes, esp. first thing in the morning.

Thank you, Marcella - I didn't know Joann's carried anything like this. I'll check out the local store this week, and check the archives, too.

From what I remember of you on Simply quilts Marcella what in the world would you know of girdle material? I can remember mom fighting herself into one when I was a kid. What a silly contraption! Good luck with the gloves Irene. Hope you get something that does the trick. Taria

Yes, Irene, that's all I take. Okay. Let's try another one. That nice Dr. Gott in the newspapers reports that lots of folks have found arthritis relief from rubbing the angry joints with Castor Oil. I suspect that stuff smells as bad as sweaty socks but maybe with gloves? while you're sleeping? Polly

I have used the Handeze gloves a lot. At one time I think I had 3 pair around here. When I was working at Jo-Ann's and doing a lot of stock stuff I wore them all the time. Don't think I could have kept up with stuff without them. Even though the gloves are fingerless, they do help keep the circulation in the hands going. And also help support the wrists to help with carpel tunnel syndrome. Do be a bit careful, and remember that most of the time there is only one glove in a package, not 2. And they are not cheap.
