OT Way OT - Fire in the sky

The physics is similar to a nacreous cloud, which is typically lit from below after the sun has set. There was a spectacular one a few years ago over southern Scotland which looked very much like that picture - as if somebody had painted rainbows all over the sky with a huge brush. Nacreous clouds are way higher, like 50,000 feet.

You only get clouds that high after some violent process has flung water vapour into the stratosphere - we'd had a couple of days of stormy cross winds, with clouds at different heights racing in completely different directions across the sky. The last one seen from Edinburgh had been 20 years earlier - there was another one a couple of years later which I missed.
