OK, thanks to Aunt Irene's Miss Mousie block, I have been debating the darned song "Froggy Went a Courtin" with DH for hours now. Hey! the song is at least 500 years old, that is a heap of history to debate. We have gone through a bunch of google searches and all such stuff, had fun debating whether it originated in Scotland or England, and wondered how we could each grow up no more than 30 miles from each other and know such different versions.
So, we have run across about sebenty-leben verses, and have developed a curiosity about how it differs over there-->.
So If you ever learned the song, In the verse that starts "What will the wedding supper be?" what do you sing the wedding supper will be? I learned it as "a fried mosquito and a black eyed pea", DH learned it as " fried fatback and collard greens". Whatcha got?
NightMist thinking she ought to make Aunt Irene a story quilt with the song. If I can make myself do a horrid batrachian creature anyhow.
