OT: Wilderness fire

Please hold close thoughts for the safety of our firefighters and residents nearby.

On Labor Day a fire started and is still burning. Yesterday it was

32,000 acres, burning through a lot of Los Padres National Forest wilderness, including the condor habitat. Then came hot dry winds that pushed it westward. It is now over 90,000 acres (almost tripled in size in less than one day). Manadatory evacuations are in place. We won't have to be evacuated, but we do have all the smoke/ash. I am house-bound due to it, and not doing much talking. My lungs are burning from the air quality, and using my Albuterol inhaler as I can, and have a raging headache. this fire is called the "Day Fire"

The sun is a glowing red ember in the sky.

Sending all good thoughts for a cool change in the weather and some rain.

Take care!

We lost more than half a million acres early this year in WVic in just a matter of days and they forecast another "bad fire season" this year.

Ginger,

We finally got some cooler wetter weather that is helping put down the fires here in Idaho. Here's hoping that you will get the same very soon.

Oh Ginger, I feel for you, I remember those days and as an asthmatic I know what you are saying about your lungs. I pray that you get some of that coastal eddy stuff and it bring cooler calmer days and nights to help calm the fire. It is sad that we don't make fire brakes although they are ugly but then so is miles of burned landscape. praying for you, Jeanbaby

Hoping things are ok there Ginger. I can't figure out why CDF didn't get a handle on the fire a long time before. Everyone knows the santa ana's are coming. I guess some of the brush hasn't burned in over 70 years so there is a lot of fuel. It still is frustrating. Hopefully, since the house you are in has been there so long it is in a safe location. DD said she could see the smoke from that fire all the way in VV yesterday. Geez, that's a long way. Keeping good thoughts for you all. A couple of fires closer to us but not anywhere near.

Hugs, Taria
