Suggestions and thoughts please

Hi Everyone,

I need your thoughts and suggestion as I wonder how a baby blanket made out of Peaches & Creme cotton would be? I've only used it for dish/face cloths and have no idea if it would work or not.

Hugs,

Nora

Good morning Nora, I would say that it is OK, however, when you have used this cotton for dishrags, did you find after a couple of washings that it get rather hard.

The good thing it that it is very washable. Most colours in that brand are nice enough to use for a baby, it depends a bit on the knitter's and receiver's tastes.

Hi Nora!

I'm sure that it would be beautiful to see, but I have a doubt. Wouldn't it be be too HEAVY for a baby? I have never worked with Peaches and Cream, but I realized that sometimes crocheted cotton items can be really heavy. If you think that it is not the case, then go for that...

It's wonderful, and especially nice done in hairpin lace with a braided join! JM2C, Hugs, Noreen

If it's a lacy pattern, it would be like a thermal blanket and the openness would make it lighter.

Adding to what Tamar said...I remember the hospital had blankets made from cotton fibers that appeared to be woven. I can see how Peaches and Cream would work up in the same way. They have since gone to a cheaper type of blanket.

They are a little bit heavier but very warm, maybe good for the stroller on cool days.

I can see how this would work. They also have some really nice verigated colors. I say to give it a try and see! What can you lose.

Let me know how it turns out if you do.

Bernat Cottontots is softer, about the same price, and has an overall wrap so it keeps it shape better. It also comes in 4 ounce balls so there are less ends to sew in. :)

I've used Cottontots for a baby blanket and it's really nice and soft. Pretty colours too.

Hi Everyone.

When I picked it up again last night after only doing a couple of inches I frogged it as it would be heavy for a baby blanket so I'll just have to keep making dish/face cloths. I shouldn't run out of them for many years. Thanks for the advice, I do appreciate it.

Nora,

Despite the obvious weight and pilling as already mentioned about Peaches and Creme, I have made two very wearable sweaters over 15 years ago. The one that I made for myself is still very much wearable and in use. It is extra warm, so only for the coldest days here in FL, but it still has its pattern showing and is still very comfy. The other one was made in white for another nurse and he loved it. Not sure if he is still wearing it, but it worked up easily and was just what he wanted.

Yes that is what I would think as well.
