Free Facecloth Patterns

Some of these URLs will lead you to potholders, dishcloths, granny squares, etc... but they are about the same size as facecloths, so I thought they might be useful too. It's the least I can do, since I can't literally send anything that I could make on my own. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the list, Gemini. For those of you who have made and used facecloths/washcloths, I have a couple of questions. Is cotton the best yarn to use? Do you like them loosely or tightly knit or crocheted? Can you tell I've always used ones made of terry cloth? No answer needed for that last question :-)

Jan, I've knitted quite a few out of the Peaches & Cream that is sold on the big cones at the Walmarts, I'm pretty sure that's cotton, and also used up leftover Butterfly 10 mercerized cotton yarn on some also. Both worked out well.

You're welcome, Jan! I only ever made one facecloth a long time ago, and it turned out HUMONGOUS for a facecloth. LOL It was very pretty though... it was done in plain geranium pink knitting worsted, and had a heart outline raised in the center of it. My Mom loved it, but then she loved everything I did... knitting, crocheting, writing, lawnchairs, etc... what can I say, I am/was the baby of the family so I was *perfect*. Yeah right! LOL Actually, even though she loved it (how it looked), it never actually got used, so I have no idea what it would be like on a face. But... it was mostly knit on one side, so that would be a softer feel than the purl side, which could be used for scrubbing soles of feet I suppose. ;o)

Somehow I think a facecloth might feel nicer if it was made from the cotton, or at least from baby yarn or something else soft. *shrug* Hopefully someone else has a better answer. Oh, by the way, I've only ever used terry cloth facecloths too! ;o)

Peace! Gemini
