All you Aussies out there, how is the fire situation? You got us worried. I, for one, would like an update. We had more rain here in Florida then we could handle. Walking out of the grocery I had to take my shoes off because the water was ankle deep. I tried to send some of it to you, but it kept running out of the box!
Fire update please

The fires in the Highcountry will burn all summer unless - by some miracle - we get significant rain before autumn. Last autumn was one of the driest on record.

has anyone heard from Sally in Tasmania? Gen
oh my, i see the nz lads made the front page of the SMH. i guess its just the novelty factor yet again. how else would they put a kiwi on the front page. know'n how much ya like'em across the ditch, lol. just kidding, just kidding. if the weather went from east to west i'd send ya heaps and heaps of rain. it falls at least once every week or two here, even in summer. feel free to come over for a holiday if you cant take the smoke any longer, eh. j.
haven't heard from her Gen but know from personal experience (and visit) that her house is on the top part of Tassie over towards the west - does that make sense?
Also I've been in contact with our go-karting family / fraternity in Bairnsdale which is about an hour from where the Gippsland fires are. All are okay and are thinking Bairnsdale should be fairly safe as it has quite a weird weather pattern there. Still keeping fingers crossed.

Heard on the news that seven, I think, Kiwi Firies were injured in Vic, Not heard how they are. I know my daughter won't be home for Christmas because of the fires, they are all getting a bit frayed around the edges. It is going to be a long hot Summer. Ruth Sydney "
