In my lack of sleep caused by frozen pipes and constant baling and dumping water, I remembered what I was thinking for using your striped fabrics. Some of these blocks are strip pieced, but rather than using strips your striped fabrics could be mock strip sets and simply used as the directional element for the blocks. It's the settings that could make your stripe fabrics really shine. I've always liked the look of a Rail Fence (or Fence Rail???) quilt. The others are a Basket Weave setting.

Well, thank you so much, Leslie. The very first one is the one I'd been collecting stripes for. (For which I had been collecting stripes if our grammarian is here.) I've printed the picture and slipped it in the stack of pretty striped fabric. It seems as though the one I loved had the lightest blocks of stripes in the center and then sort of graduated out with the darker ones. This ought to be fun and as my Puerto Rican friend says, "very izzy". Polly

What a great result for Leslie's sleepless night! Well done L. . In message , Polly Esther writes
What an inspiration! I really love the first one! She did such a great job, and a clear tutorial. I was never very good at setting triangles, it takes me a while to "get" it. Going to book mark that one for the future! amy in CNY
I got started following those links and the links at the links and found a photo of t he most beautiful "Lady of the Lake" quilt and I swear I may have to have a go at a mini one. I'm going to sit down and figure out if I could possibly turn that into a 4" block -- something manageable. It's only half square triangles, but my patience for doing little ones is limited. I may feel better about it once I get my space organized again, or at least mucked out so the floor is safe to walk on.
