I have successfully used kona cotton white for printing photographs. Done several projects using this and they all came out great and are lasting.

Sorry Polly - I can't help. But I'm busting to know what the difference is between Kona and Kona Bay? I just bought some perfectly beeootiful white Kona cotton which does have (as you say above) a perfect surface.

I got lucky. There's Kona and there's Kona Bay. They 'may' be the same thing. May not. Anyhow, my note from 2006 says Kona BAY is the one for printing photographs. We could research manufacturers and thread count and the Egyptians for days but would rather be quilting. Polly

Kona is a 'beefy' rather heavy cotton fabric. I love it for quilts where I want to use solid colors and for 'using' quilts for it's durability. Kona Bay is the delightfully smooth and lovely cotton Polly described.

I buy it all the time for Project Linus volunteers to color (with Crayola Fabric Markers). Yes, it's more expensive than muslin, but it has a nice firm weave and the drawn/colored pictures look so much nicer on the Kona cotton than on muslin.

Yep! He got goopy eyes and had to go to the vet for eyeball-type antibiotic ointment. They need a name on the spot, so Baxter it is. He seems okay with that. VBG Now if my puter would stop arguing with my camera I could get some photos posted of my little darlin'.

Pat, I used all Kona cottons for my Moon Over The Mountain quilt and the lightest yellows didn't have any show thru when used for applique over the deep colored fabrics. I would guess the Kona white would be the same. I buy it from Hancock's of Paducah.

Thanks Leslie - I was up early and went straight to the site where I saw the Kona cotton. I started the order - and they hadn't got enough stock. It felt like a catastrophe (but then, everything adverse does at the moment!). I did get it, of course, eventually; but even that place had only 4 and a quarter metres, and I needed 4. Just enough, but it will see me through. What with the cream masquerading as white, and now this, the rest of this week had better run more smoothly or I'll be for the padded cell! .
