One of my favorite cuddly quilts has W&N batting and very little machine quilting. I think on an 8" block I just MQ'd a large X and SITD around all the blocks, etc. It washes very well...still holding together after years and feels so nice and soft.

Last summer I attended a class at a quilt show that would help you decide what to quilt on your quilt. Often the teacher would say, "Quilt it to cardboard"....Which would be OK if I didn't want to sleep under it..I just don't care for that feel of a quilt on a bed...OK for a WH. Mary/vt

I prefer a "flatter" look because I want the quilting to be showcased.

Great! :) Just go ahead and "pop" anytime you like -- whether or not you're doing any quilting. :D

The kids and I are doing well. Shea is taller than me now (not that that's hard) and has gotten into riding his road bike up mountain roads in races and skiing. Chelsea is Junior and working and driving and dating! (eek). Scarier than any horror movie. The good thing is, her bf is afraid of me. Altho I don't know why. I think I'm a fun person. But I don't think I want to make him feel safe just yet.

PS. My bf's dd is also named Chelsi (yes, spelled diff) and they have the same DOB. Ya, gets confusing.

Keeping a BF afraid of you is a *good* thing. ;) DD#1's then-BF was very afraid of both DH and me -- he still married her and likes us a lot now, but it was a good way to start.
