POWER! I HAVE POWER!

I knew about the outage in NYC several days before I heard anything on the radio because my DH flew into Newark and said that it was a total mess because all the planes from powerless La Guardia had to land in Newark due to the outage in NYC. He said there were hundreds of planes all over the tarmac and runways and that they were using luggage carts to guide them into available spaces. (I have yet to hear anything about that on the news). Then I had to tell him the power was out here and that we had several large trees down.

The main reason there was so little accurate coverage for STL is that it wasn't a tornado and there wasn't much rain. Apparently 90-100 MPH winds don't seem to matter unless you can call it a hurricane or a tornado. I have friends still w/o power and whose workplaces are still closed without power. No power in 100? temps is very difficult. It will get worse before it gets better.

I wasn't sure if you knew about the pump or not. I do know what you mean about the phones. We keep one old style phone just for when the power goes out - the last time we lost power my cell phone needed a charge and I couldn't even use it! DH had to remind me about charging the phone every night, just in case. I thanked him for his words of wisdom, and asked why he did't remind me before the power went out.

I'm in Texas, and I did know about your power outage. It has actually been in the paper here more than the New York outage. DH was just saying yesterday that if our air conditioning went out, we were going to a hotel and stay until we get someone out to fix it. I hope you continue to have power.

it is a drag, isn't it?

Our sewage works just the opposite. No problem with water but everything goes into a holding tank which is then pumped out of there to the city system (we live on the down hill side of a hill so everything has to go up to get out) So, no electricity and our water/bathroom use is severely limited.
