QI Gone

Tondra had to be put to sleep last night; she was 19.

That's two cats I've lost in six weeks or so; Sarah didn't come home April

22nd, and hasn't been seen since then. I didn't post that at the time since we had a thread of "anybody who lets their cat out should burn in hell" going on at the time.....

Sad.

Broken foot still not healed. Still no job offers.

Oh wow, Megan that's tough. I'm so sorry.

My current cat QI is an indoor cat, but we live on the edge of the Mojave desert. Ahem. When I lived in Kansas, we had barn cats that were still well-loved. They had a job to do and seemed quite content in their outdoor lives. When I lived in CA, I had an indoor-outdoor cat. While I think there are some places where cats should probably be strictly indoors, not all situations are the same. In my long-winded way, I want to say I'm sorry about Sarah too--and definitely don't think you should burn in hell.

How long has it been on the foot? I know it must seem an eternity to you....

Did you get laid off? If you told us, I missed it.

Best regards, Michelle in NV

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,

that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends

so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,

and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.

Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,

just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;

they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops

and looks into the distance.

Her bright eyes are intent.

Her eager body quivers.

Suddenly she begins to run from the group,

flying over the green grass,

her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet,

you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,

and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,

so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Oh, Megan, I'm so sorry! It's always terrible to lose a QI, but two in such a short time must be especially heartbreaking. {{{ Hugs}}}

It's week 10. I'm about five or six weeks into wearing an electric bone stimulator 5-10 hours a day, and as of a week ago you could see that one edge had started to heal. Still trying to get the rest to heal without surgery to go in and put a screw in. Am up to regular shoes and "you can do anything you want to if it doesn't hurt" other than that.

Yeah, May fourth. Low man on the totem pole at a Saturn dealership; shouldn't be surprising I suppose.....

Oh, Pig, I'm so very sorry. This would be a good time to believe that bad things come in threes. You've certainly had yours...

Pig -- so sorry to hear about Tondra. And maybe Sarah got lost ... then found by a loving family. I know that doesn't help your loss -- but maybe it will help to think of her safe and loved -- even if under a new roof.

I hope your foot mends soon... and you're back on the job in no time!

So sorry to hear about Tondra pig. I don't believe that anyone who lets out their cat should burn to hell....I think there are different circumstances. I used to live in a suburbs area and no way would I let me cat out. I live way out in the country and had three cats who lived full time outdoors...one left looking for the female purrswaytion (spelled wrong on purpose), one died of natural causes, and the third is still loving it. I just got two new kitties and they are strictly indoor kitties....because I eventually want to take them camping with me and don't want them freaking out to get outdoors. I brought Olive in for awhile and opened my bedroom window a bit and she ripped the screen out to get outside!!!

Anyhow, I'm sending big hugs your way, take care my dear, Launie, in Oregon

Oh, that's so sad Megan. Two little friends in such a short time is heartbreaking.

Try to rest more to give your foot a chance. Yes, I know there's lots to do always, but ... ... >g<

Maybe in a few months the economy will start its upturn, and folk will start hiring again. Such a hard time. I'm really sorry. . In message , Megan Zurawicz writes

I am so sorry about the cats! They are, indeed, important parts of the family. About the one who disappeared, it's possible that she might come back on her own and never tell you where she's been, of course, as two friends of mine have found. (One cat was gone for 2 months, and the other for SIX months!)

As to whether it is "right" or "wrong" to let a cat go outside, don't let people make you feel like an evil person, because you are NOT! Every situation is different. Where I live the vets and the shelters all say not to let a cat outside at all because of the heavy traffic and some really nasty diseases they are increasingly seeing and some horribly mean people, and my Adele lives inside. In my home town, cats are generally indoor-outdoor cats with very good success. In still other places, cats are all outdoor cats with food and water bowls on back steps and porches and warm places to sleep tucked into garages and sheds and barns and porches.

It sounds like you are making progress, although I know it seems like it's taking forever. Hopefully, the electric bone stimulator will do the trick.

Yikes! Even if it's not unexpected, it still sucks. Here in Nevada, they're laying off teachers in droves--a usually "safe" profession. Keeping my fingers crossed you find something very soon.
