Again, thanks for all the generous comments and compliments on this rather wild quilt! I even sent some of the excess fabric to Jill for her critter quilts and my stash shelves still don't look any less crowded. It was a "freeing" kind of quilt, though. I didn't worry about the direction of the prints or widths of the strips. It was just as random as could be except for the colored strips in the centers.

Well I have about 250 of them right now actually! But about 1/3 have novelty fabrics and the other 2/3 do not. So I've separated them and have several projects in mind- including a few child-sized patchwork quilts. But I may well put them all together and make a giant quilt and something else for the children. I've not decided yet! :)

Carole, that's wonderful! So colorful -- and I do like the way you used certain colors to give the diamond effect all the way around. :)

Jo, be SURE that we see pictures when you finally decide what you're going to do!

Sandy and Boca Jan, thanks! Something in my methodical little mind just had to have that "order" from the strips forming the diamond to balance out the chaos of the rest of the quilt.

It was definitely a big project. I keep telling myself not to do any more big quilts, but the 2007-2008 BOM for RCTQ is going to be big, too.

The quilt is getting boxed up and mailed to a new home on Tuesday, after I've had a chance on Monday to show it to a couple of neighbors who wanted to see it. All my fabric expenses, as well as thread, batting, postage, etc. will be repaid, so I actually am making money in this effort to reduce my stash, even though it didn't really seem to reduce it very much. I'm just glad the quilt will have a home, since I really didn't have a use for it here at all.

How wonderful! Nothing better than a good scrap quilt. So whose bed is it for? You're right about the scrap stash. Pruning it just seems to encourage growth. Roberta in D, Queen of the Scrap Heap

Well, Roberta, this will sound strange, I'm sure, but my ex is buying it from me. Years ago when we were still a couple (and that is at least 35 years ago) I had made a quilt for him and he is still using it even though it is about in shreds at this point. We're friendly at this stage - get along better not married than married - so when this quilt was about halfway through I e-mailed him a picture of it and asked if he'd be interested in buying it since the likelihood I was going to do one specifically to anybody's specifications was zero to none! :) He was very enthusiastic about it and said he definitely wanted it and didn't care how long it took me to finish it. So it will be getting mailed to him and he's going to pay for everything.
