Quilted Baby "Thing" for Cart

Hi Guys, Well, the DGD is starting to sit up by herself and will soon be mobile enough to sit in the seat of the grocery cart when DD takes her shopping. I have seen those quilted "things" that go in the cart seat area and then you put the baby in them and they keep the little one more secure. Some of them have toys attached, etc. Anyway, I have looked at Simplicity & McCalls for a pattern and haven't seen anything. Has anyone here seen a pattern for one of these? I would (of course) make it out of pieced blocks to match the baby quilt I made. They are just such a strange shape that it would be *much* easier & quicker to have a commercial pattern! I can make my own but if I could buy one on sale for $6 at Wally World, it would sure be helpful! If there aren't any available from the "regular" pattern companies, does anyone know of a source for a pattern? Actually, I don't even know what they are called or I would Google the silly thing and see what I could find! Maybe I should go look at Baby's-R-Us and see what they call them!! OK -- any info appreciated. Thanks & CiaoMeow >^;;^< . PAX, Tia Mary >^;;^< Angels can't show their wings on earth but nothing was ever said about their WHISKERS!! I bought one for my grandson at Toys'R'Us about 3 years ago. I couldn't find it on their website (or at Babies'R'Us) now, but it may be that I wasn't searching on the right thing. I have seen patterns at the fabric store for a similar seat designed to be used as a travel high chair on a regular dining room chair. That would probably work, but unfortunately I don't remember the pattern company.

Personally, I go ga-ga over the carts with a plastic "car" underneath, steering wheels and room for a little buddy and all. Guess I'm joining the generation that says "But, we never had anything that neat!"

I'm the type that just loikes to be at the sewing machine -- doesn't much matter what I am working on :-))). Well, except for hemming denim stuff -- YUCK -- I ***hate** to hem jeans and I have a special heavy duty machine just for that sort of thing -- LOL! Since I moved to Magnoliaville (AKA Atlanta Metro area), I have made more home dec. stuff in 3 years than I did in Lizard Land (AKA Phoenix) in probably

6 or 7 years! And baby quilts -- I must have made 8 of those. Of course, I don't hand quilt -- MQ only -- so that goes a lot quicker. I still like doing wedding gowns more than anything. I think it's that look on the bride's face when she sees herself for the first time in the "almost" finished dress. The bridesmaids dresses OTOH, are *not* my favourite thing to make -- too much all the same:-)). I just finished that R/W/B autumn pallett wedding gift quilt for DSis to give a dear friend. Just have to put the label on it. It's not as boring as I had thought it would be. I did a simple diagonal grid through the center of the blocks. What makes the quilt more fun is that I also added some ties -- just like the quilt I am trying to match in the photo the bride sent. I found a great skein of yarn that is a boucle' look and sort of a brick red. I couched down 10" strands of this stuff and then tied it in knots. That *really* jazzed up the quilt a lot more than the flat crocheted cotton lace that I was going to put around the edge!! CiaoMeow >^;;^< .
