Quilting McHeadbands Gone Bananas- it's DONE!

I finished "My Hip-py Horse-pital" quilt at 4:38 a.m. this morning.... and just in time. ;-) We leave tomorrow (Tuesday) for Jefferson City (a three hour drive), will have a lovely dinner and spend the night at a motel. Sometime Wednesday (they haven't called yet with the time for my surgery) I will have my 4 y.o. hip replacement re-replaced. This one will be a bit more involved than the first replacement. That leg is 2.5 in. longer due to polio and the surgeon will be shortening my leg. I'll be "normal" for the first time in my life! I'll have to learn to walk all over again... my center of gravity will be different and I'll have to learn to put my foot down further than I am used to. I'm totally bamfoozled with thinking about it- what a miracle! I'd sure appreciate any prayers and/or good thoughts you can send my way tomorrow.When I read my books about free motion quilting they all said that I would develop a style of my own. Well, Diane Gaudynski taught me headbands and bananas and Karen McTavish taught me McTavishing. So, I quilted headbands in the borders but they seemed to go more in the direction of McTavishing and when I got myself into a predicament, I just banana'ed my way out of it. *My* personal style is McHeadbands Gone Bananas"! Here's the photos of the finished quilt-'ll be busy the rest of the day and then in the hospital for 3-6 days, so I'll talk to you later- prolly next week. My Hunky Mr. Collins will be letting several rctq'ers know how I am doing and I imagine someone will post his message- or parts of it??? LOLY'all be good and get lots of quilting done so you can entertain me with photos when I'm back and recovering. You'll know it's me cuz I'll be strutting instead of limping! Wonderful! That's one quilt to take your mind off anything negative. The colors will just heal whatever's wrong with anybody in the vicinity. Best wishes for a smooth recovery! Roberta in D

Leslie, WOW!!!!! What an absolutely STUNNING quilt. The colors, the design, the quilting - ALL amazing. Best of luck with your surgery. I'm sure you'll sail through it with flying colors.
