radiation questions/OT

Radiation....I just don't get how it can target on that one bone tumor. I also seemed to be extremely fatigued more so with the radiation than the chemo. I am doing radiation everyday and they put one chemo in there once a week. They have me on a Fentanyl patch but I fall asleep so easy. I actually dropped doing my email this past week ....my poor head dropped and I actually woke myself up! My radiation should be done by March 4. Pami

Pami, that's a strong pain killer. no wonder you nod off! ask your doctor if there is a non-narcotic he/she can give you. also ask if you are anemic. that could be a side effect and there are things you can do to boost your energy.

(((Pami))). You are tired because your body is trying to heal. If you feel up to it, take a look at this article on "cancer fatigue" and this one on radiation therapy

It took me a good six weeks to feel "normal" after having radiation therapy for breast cancer.

Pami,

My husband finished radiation about a little more than a month ago and he is starting to get some energy back even though he is still undergoing chemo. When he was going for daily radiation treatment, he was asleep most evenings when I got home from work. He stayed awake long enough to eat dinner and then he went back to sleep. I'll bet you'll find a noticeable difference when radiation is done. I hope it does its job and you're well on the road to recovery.

Can't tell you how it works. Was wondering the same thing when DFIL was going through it. I can tell you that he was also very tired. Hang in there, and get lots of rest. You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
