OT: can any of y'all tell me...........

why, when one person, who has been scarily sick gets better, 2 others in the house get sick? This despite the house being aired out, linens being laundered, and everything being coated in Lysol, of course.

DS is nearly back to 100%, though he's still slower than normal (not by much, but enough that I can see it). We're making sure he gets plenty of fluids and that seems to be helping. He still isn't eating a lot, but then again, because of his meds, he doesn't usually gorge himself - just making sure we have lots of stuff he likes on hand and letting him graze for noe.

Friday morning, DD woke up crying and saying that her whole body hurt (sound familiar?), but she didn't have a fever, so we just had her stay down and drink as much as she could and monitored her potty visits - she also ate a little bit. Well, today her temp was up to 102.8 in the ear that she didn't have pressed into the pillow (that one registered 104). She has had her motrin and her berry flavored water, tried an overcooked cinnamon roll and is doing well staying on the couch. Temp isn't dropping as fast as I'd like, but....we'll keep an eye on it. Good thing is that she *sounds* like normal, just not as energetic as she usually is.

I took a nap with her yesterday - laid down at 130 - and I don't know what time it was when she got up, but I didn't get up until 5 or so. Took a hot soak, got some soup and hot tea, went back to bed. DS, sweet boy that he is, asked if I wanted him to read to me. SInce he is improving incredibly with his reading, we like to encourage him to read to us or his sister..sometimes even to the dog or cats!! He climbed onto Ken's side of the bed and read to me for almost an hour, then asked if I was ok. Since I had a migraine, no, I wasn't really ok and really needed all lights off, but I told him that I was and rolled over so the light wasn't directly in my face. I don't know how long after that he read, but I don't think he finished the book. He asked me this morning if he could finish reading the book to me tonight :-) Oh, Apparently I was back to sleep by 8pm and woke up at 1am to let the dog out and find my hubby, who was *not* in bed.

Sweet man wanted me to get as much sleep as I could so he was going to spend the night downstairs on the couch! I sent him upstairs and let the dog out then went back to bed...heard DD wake up this morning, but could only muster enough strength to tell her it was too early to get up and send her back to bed (she listened). I think it was after 8 before I was finally able to get up. Now I'm sitting board straight with a heat pack on my lower back because I can't really move too well...just what I need .

I think I've had enough. I am scheduled for a 75 minute massage on Wednesday (Valentine's gift from hubby) and am hoping that I can walk well enough to make it into the office. Good thing is that hubby doesn't have to work tomorrow and the children don't have school, so if I can't get my back to settle down, at least I'll have some help.

Ok, thanks for letting me ramble. I think this may be punishment of a sort, but I'm still working out what it is for. Maybe it's just a sign that I need to not worry about my business stuff anf worry more about my family and homelife.

Larisa, Just take care of yourself for the next few days. The flu is going around, and you seem to have gotten it, along with everyone else in the house! Work will wait. rest, chicken soup and tea seem to help me when i have the flu.

take care,

Well, since you ask, these things spread when one person touches another person, and then touches one of his mucous membranes -eyes, nose, mouth. Or when somebody sneezes without covering the mouth. Clean linens and Lysol are but a comforting illusion of cleanliness. Fresh air of course is good. Hope everybody feels back to normal soon! Roberta in D

... and lots of time a person coming down with something is contagious and spreading the germs around before anyone realizes they are ill.

and because a person is generally contagious before they appear ill. Newspaper here in Houston says flu season is getting worse rather than better and the flu shot covered less than 40% of the different types of viruses actually making the rounds.

Yeah, they guessed wrong on the make up of this year's shot. It's a guessing game every year as to what strains of flu will hit this hemisphere during the flu season. Usually the get it mostly right. This year.....not.

LOL...thanks for all the clarification as well as the good thoughts and such. I thought I had been doing pretty good at monitoring everyone's behavior (beginning signs of illness, etc.) but I guess I'm not as good as I thought.

Mom II - I spent most of the day in bed, legs elevated to try and get my back into place. Hadn't planned on falling asleep, but that's exactly what happened. We'll see how things go tonight - boys are out at AWANA, girls are home and miserable.

Tomorrow we will all be home except for when DH has his physical and goes to the parent-teacher conference.

Larisa, off for the next round of liquids and tissues

Don't know why, but that is what always happens here. We have been passing around a cold here, except the youngest. He managed to get he flu this weekend. I'm just hoping that he isn't nice enough to share that one, but you know he will. Get some rest!!
