Praising Great Customer Service

I need to tell everyone about the online shopping experience I recently had. You see, I pretty much shop online, cause the nearest place to shop for fabrics is 60 miles away and it's either Wally World or the quilt shop but they charge way too much for my humble quilts But I digress,.....I received a notice of a sale happening the last few days of 2007. So I took stock of my stash and filled my basket with fabrics in the colours I thought I really needed(ya right). Now normally this place sends the order out quickly but with the holidays and the fact that this was a special sale the web site said it might take longer to get the order. No problem, I can wait. Well I waited and sorta forgot about my order. When I finally asked about it I received an email back apologizing for the slip up and she was sending me a part of my order as the rest was not available. They credited my paypal account with my full purchase price and a further bonus she sent my the partial order for ...FREE... I received 8 yards of fabric in the mail the other day. I can't believe it! That was going way beyond what I felt was necessary to appease me.So I am telling you all that

is a great place to shop. and I am not affiliated in any way with this place...just one very satisfied customer. I'm off my soapbox now and back to playing with my stash. Donna inNWONtario

Do businesses realize how much they benefit in the long run when they do the right thing by their customers? I sometimes wonder!

I can never understand why places (especially places like restaurants or other "service" based places) do not take the time (and expense) to thoroughly train their employees. I won't hesitate to pass on the name of places where product and service are exemplary. Nor will I be hesitant of speaking out when my experience was less than stellar. I'll usually give them a second chance... but a third... rarely.

Guess I'm old school. Treat people well... and fairly and they will always come back... and often bring their friends!

I'll have to check out wazoodle -- because I buy a lot of fabric online as well! Sounds like a good place to spend my $$$.

Howdy!

All right, taking you up on your suggestion, Kate:

"Great Customer Service" for me means the store has what I want (as they advertise), when I want it (or when promised) at a good price, with a pleasant employee/owner providing real service.

Today at our local JoAnn's Fabrics: thread is on sale, 50% off regular price. *All* the thread, including my favorite, Gütermann handquilting. Along w/ everything else in the advert/flyer is a coupon for 10% off the entire transaction, including regular-price & sales items. Good for today & tomorrow. Sounds sweet! to me. I got my inventory sheet of the Gütermann numbers I already have in stock , grabbed the coupon, and Cruised over to the wonderful shopping center (it is!). JoAnn's was busy, 5 or 6 cutters at the fabric counter (take a number; there were at least a dozen people waiting in line), employees all over the store checking up on customers, "Can I help you find anything?" "Are you finding what you want?" Wow. Filled up the bottom of my basket w/ Gütermann thread, one in all the colors I didn't already have, 2 of the ones I like best; no white in stock but I can get that elsewhere. Checked the rotary cutter aisle-- everything on sale for 1/2 price. Cool. Got a new cutting mat, Olfa 25"x40" (many grooves in my older one, it's been well-loved). Then the best surprise: at the check-out center, ALL 5 registers were open, friendly clerks w/ smiles on their faces. *All* registers open!! Wow! I mean, WOW! Good service, products in stock, everybody happy. ;-D

Around the corner is World Market store, lovely place, lots of imported chocolate , other goodies; someone opened a register & called to me. Around the next corner is the Jamba Juice shop where they sell so many good energy boosters, like the Pomegranate Paradise (w/ a boost of calcium ): Yum! Good trip. Great customer service at all 3 stores.

WOW -- We hear so much about the negative customer service at TSWLTH... that is it WONDERFUL to hear that at least at one store they have gone out of their way to help customers feel welcomed and appreciated!

Sounds like a very successful shopping trip!!

I did find a LQS about 15 miles away. I didn't even know she was there. It looks small from the front but the shop goes way back and is well laid out. She has a selection of fabric to please the most discriminating quilter but I didn't see anything for less than $5.99 a yard and most was $8.99 a yard. A little steep for someone on a limited income - me.

The feed store may have feed sacks you can use........ ;^)

Isn't it irritating when stores do that? I had a problem with my Dell computer recently, and needed repair parts.

Long story short, I had problems with the order and emailed Dell to ask about the order. Their response? Call customer service. Excuse me? Why have an email address if you are going to tell me to call? If I had WANTED to call, I would have done that in the first place. Sheesh.

As it happened, I had pneumonia when they got around to emailing, and I couldn't speak more than 3 words without coughing. I emailed them back explaining that, and their response was "call customer service and explain this". Guess which company I will NOT be buying from again. :(

PS still don't have the parts. We're working on jury rigging a solution.
