Found Mary Jo's Fabric

I was reading some posts in another quilting group I belong to and a fabric store in Gastonia NC was mentioned. I decided to get nosey. Couldn't get in the website because my 'puter is messing up.

Did read a couple articles on the place. It apprears they buy about

15 t0 20 bolts of any one fabric and just might have the fabric you could be looking for.

Apparently if you write them and send a swatch of the fabric you want, they just might have it. This store is about the size of a super wally world. They carry all kinds of fabric besides what we use including upholstery and fabrics for wedding dresses, etc. Apparently this well kept secret has been around for many years.

Do any of you know about this store. The rest of us would love to read your comments.

No secret here. I've known about it for years and have been to it 4-5 times. Great place. They have anything you can imagine. A big bridal fabrics section, loads of quilting cottons, fleece, and anything else you might want. Gen

a half hour extra isnt much but it was getting late and i was hoping to fly out of Charlotte that evening. after driving south all day from VA, forget which airport, i was pretty tired. i ended up sleeping in the airport (gawd those chairs with arms between dont make a good way to stretch out) til the flight the next morning, then with a layover in Atlanta, it took me all that day to get to Houston, argh. so two full days from VA to Houston, seems silly eh. i didnt have reservations when i got to Charlotte so i had to wait til the next morning for the first seat open heading west towards TX. i took whatever flight headed that way, i was too tired to worry at that point.

if you consider there were no doubt folks in 1st and business class that were well under their weight allowance in suitcases, my extra weight of fabric wouldnt have been a problem at all. maybe one day i'll make it back to the states, possibly i'll make back to NC. my daddy is from there but to my knowledge there is no more family of his there. :( he was an only child who was mostly raised by his aunt as his folks both died when he was a youngster, not sure from what tho. probly at least one accident. could be some i just havent found tho, long lost cousins somewhere, who knows. i'd probly arrive with at least one big empty suitcase tho, so no worrys there, eh. nothing like a good bargain or three, lol. j.

My guild took a 15-passenger van trip to Mary Jo's a couple of years ago. They have amazing prices.

They're quite accomodating about mail order, too. I buy my "Matilda's Own" wool blend batting from them. Even with shipping it's way cheaper than anywhere else I've tried, and it quilts so nicely.

I was attending a professional meeting about an hour's drive from Mary Jo's Fabrics. We had one precious afternoon of free time. No one else understood why I rented a car and drove to a fabric store. Had to pay a full day's rental ($29) and only kept the car three hours but have wonderful memories. Yes, one hour drive, one hour to shop and one hour back, but it was worth it. Didn't buy much fabric but found great buys on several trims that I still use years later.

The best buy was spools of 1" wide "ribb>I was reading some posts in another quilting group I belong to and a
