RCTQ retreat? in Shipshewana Indiana

They book up quick -- so I'm thinking maybe March/April 2009. That way we could all start saving our $$$ too!

My guess is we couldn't get booked in the next 6-8 months.

Wrong Springfield, I reckon. Not the one with the Bass Pro Shops headquarters, the one up to its wazoo in the Abe Lincoln stuff. :)

Hahahhaha! Been to both, the Missouri one is the closest to Leslie and me. I live about as far west of there as Les does east.

I thought she lived more south than east and if she did it would be a simple matter of her driving up there to meet me and riding on with me to Indiana.

Now if you all want to do a retreat in the Branson area, I don't think either one of us would complain.

I'm from Indiana and I've never been to Shipshewana! I've heard great stories about it though.

I would love to have the opportunity to go in 2009, but no way of knowing now if I could do it!

Howsomever, the S.E.X. Is better in Shipshe. :)

I'd be up for doing it in 2009. It would take a year for me to plan and save money to do it, but yes... if it's in 2009, I'm there.

I am definitely interested. A holiday weekend is the best bet for me

- like Labor Day.

Bonnie, that's nearer to me. Indiana would be so far to drive from the Syracuse, NY area. Is Greencastle near Pittsburgh, Hershey, or Philly?

But if it could be planned immediately before or right after a big quilt show it would be that much more fun!

I'm still excited about this idea. I'm not the one to organize it, but I sure want to attend!

Forget second hand information sources and go to the real source, the IRS.

The stimulus payments will not reduce next year's refund. That is stated in the answer to the third from last question on this page:

People on SS and may get some money, but only if they file a tax return this year even if they do not have to file by law due to low income. Read the page below for more info

Everyone should be aware of the new tax rebate telephone and e-mail scams that are cropping up. To avoid falling for a scam, read more here:

Howdy!

Nah, don't worry: your great-great grandchildren will be paying for it.

Your local quilt shop would like to welcome you & your "rebate".

Oh, don't get me started on the stupidity of the rebate idea! I just wanted to clarify the facts about it. I agree that it is a crime what people who claim "family values" are doing to the families of the future.

Well, if I thought it would help with a universal health care system, I might. Oh, that's right, you don't approve of that.

Oh, the fabric diet thing is all me - I just have too much - no really, I do. My DH fully supports my spending for anything I want. He's like your guy - the only thing he says is "Did you get enough?" I will just feel better if I use up some before I buy more. Of course the exception is music fabric - gotta get that ! There're always quilts to be made for the music fraternity and sorority.

My current project is a quillow for the Cancer Society's Relay for Life, to be auctioned off. Once that's done, it's time to paint the downstairs. Oh, joy.

Thanks for the links, especially the first one - the "resume" is also eye-opening, if depressing.

Iris (January 20, 2009 - the end of an error - thank goodness)

Well, if we each got to choose where our money to the gov't went more of us might be happier to give. Choosing where charity dollars go should be a choice IMO. One of the things I like about this country of ours is we still have the right to have an opinion. Even if we disagree we have a say. BTW, you don't even have any idea what I think of this particular stimulus package. I am not keen on it myself. Have you sent your comments to your representative? I hope so if you feel so strongly.
