Retreat and OT Cats

I'm going to a quilt retreat tomorrow, for the week-end . It's put on by our guild. Darn, I've got a lot of stuff to pack. At least, I'm going if I can stop crying and settle down. A month ago we looked at our Persian cat and one eye looked as if it had old blood in the iris-it had been fine earlier in the day. I took him to OSU Vet. Hospital. He had cancer in the eye, so it had to be removed. Fortunately, they don't think it had spread. Before the surgery, they found he had cardiomyopathy---thickening of the walls of the heart. So now he's on heart medicine twice a day. Over this past week-end my Ragdoll was very lethargic and not eating. Back to OSU with him. They found cancer in all of his abdominal organs---no symptoms till the week-end. We had to put him down Tuesday. That was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. My other cats had all died naturally. I can't stop crying-he was only 10. These are both the cats I got when my cousin died 4 years ago. I sure thought I'd be able to have them more that 4 years. I think this is about enough! Gen

Oh, dear.

Go to the retreat, and do something in fabric that honors him. And cry when you need to, and remember the good times, and know that you showed him all the love you have for him when you put aside your feelings to make sure he would not be in pain anymore.

Oh my goodness. That's just like getting hit in the face with a shovel. Over and over again. So sorry. So very sorry. Sending gentle hugs, Polly

Hugs sent. I am so sorry to hear this. And I am so grateful that this group of wonderful people really understand pet grief. I have met a few ragdolls. They are precious. I know you will miss him.

Gen, thank you for being the kind of person does what's right and best and humane for your beloved fuzzy friends, even when it makes you sad. Grieve how much you need, and then find a way to remember him gently.

Gen, I'm so sorry about your babies. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have to face all this at you at one time. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{{{{{{{Gen}}}}}}}}}}

Cats are part of the family. Their passing is hard, but you did the right thing.

I think the retreat will do you good, giving you some space and time to get used to this.

(((((HUGS))))) are on their way! It's one of the hardest (sometimes THE kindest) things to do - letting your fur-baby go on to a place without suffering. Thinking of you! ME-Judy

Thanks to all of you for your caring. The retreat helped, just to get away. However, I got no sewing done. I took the Quest, which I haven't used lately-I've been using my other machines. Went to put a bobbin in and--------no bobbin case! I have absolutely no idea where it can be. Nowhere in any of my supplies, etc. Guess I've got to order another one. I got a lot of appliqué fused and ready to sew, so all wasn't lost. Maybe it's hiding with all the other lost things on this group. Gen

Oh, how frustrating! I hope the part isn't too expensive. Maybe it's been 'filed' with the bits for anothr machine? I know my Lily feet box also contains TWO spare bobbin cases for Big Sis's Optima 190!
