Completely OT: Take it with you

There was a man who had worked all of his life, had saved all of his money, and was a real miser when it came to his money. Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with me." And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.

Well, he died. He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her. When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!" She had a box with her, she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down, and they rolled it away.

So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband." The loyal wife replied, "Listen, I'm a Christian, I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him." "You mean to tell me that you DID put that money in the casket with him!!!!?"

"I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it."

A woman after my own heart! LOL

That is AWESOME! LOL!

It reminds me of my friend Gwyn's grandpa. This guy is about the most uptight stick-in-the-mud you could ever hope to avoid meeting, and, though quite wealthy, unbelievably miserly. When asked, on his 99th birthday, if there was anything he would do differently with his life, he actually said "I wish I'd made more money". Yes, not "I wish I'd spent more time with my kids" or "I wish I'd taken ballroom dancing", but "I wish I'd made more money". His only child, who visits him regularly and puts up with his wretched personality, is not in his will, and nobody knows why, least of all her... though some speculate that it is because she had the awful temerity to not be a son.

He's turning 100 in a few months, and his life insurance policy will, at that point, terminate and pay out $100,000 cash. Gwyn asked him if he was going to do anything fun with the money, and he said, "What? NO! It's going straight to the bank."

Because, apparently, the world would end if he actually *enjoyed* any of that money before he dies!

That's an awful way to live. My children will have some money but I live a very playful and fun life. I hate not having money at times but when we do we really enjoy it. I can't think of any reason to hold on to it like he is doing. There are so many people to meet and things to experience. That's what I would spend all that money doing.

That guy has serious mental problems that have not been diagnosed. That's what I think of people like that.
