rolling sewing machine tote

I am wondering what you all think is a good price for a rolling tote for a sewing machine. I have the 6600P which is a little longer than say a Bernina so I can't use the tote I use for my Bernina 910.

Thanks,

I got one at JoAnn's Fabrics last month, regularly priced at $90 but on sale for $45. I'm pleased with it.

I bought the same one, but I bought it this month & I think I paid $40 for it. It has lots of extra zippered containers to hold your supplies. I bought it for my FW, but I'm pretty sure I could get my Viking in it as well.

DH bought me a Bernina rolling tote a few years ago. It's fine for my Viking, but if I had my 'druthers, I'd get one of those ToTo? or TuTu? bags. They collapse & fold down flat, plus I think the wheels roll better than most any other bag.

I just bought a Tutto rolling tote and absolutely love it! All 4 wheels roll in all directions. My DH likes it because he's the one that carries my machine out to the minivan for me and it's not nearly as heavy as the case I had. (Can't roll it now with all the snow and slop on the ground - we don't have sidewalks out here in the country!) They are more expensive, but I was able to get mine through the store that I do a newsletter for at a very good price.

Howdy!

Oh, that's cool, D> I just bought a Tutto rolling tote and absolutely love it! All 4 wheels

Yeah, that's the only problem. There are so many zipper pockets, I forget where I put what so I have to go through every pocket to find my foot pedal, cords, etc., etc. But, that's a small price to pay for the convenience of an easily pulled and pushed tote! :-)

Can't remember where I heard this - maybe even here on rctq, but someone said they use a rolling cooler for a sewing machine tote.

Thanks for the link, Rag. I was a little startled to see that "MY" SM model is the one pictured in the advertising, BUT the model number is not on that chart! So, while I see my model will fit the carrier, I do not know WHICH size carrier. Come on! PAT in VA/USA

I have a rolling case from JoAnne's too. It is okay, but there are a few features I would not choose again. The handle is only on the top. This means I can't stack another case AND lift by the handle for stairs or car trunk. I would prefer two handles, on the short sides, for reason just stated and because it is easier/safer to lift with two arms. JMO. I really like that Too Too (?) Case! PAT

I bought a rolling case from JoAnn's. My DH didn't think it looked very sturdy. Took it back and bought one of the big black monstrosities that only rolls in one direction (the wide way) and was really hard to maneuver.

Pat, there's a chart someplace on the Tutto site that shows what model machines fits in which bags. At least, there used to be - haven't looked recently.

Donna: The chart has LOTS of models listed, but not mine! I have Pfaff 7570, which is the SM in the photo, but not on the charts. I just sent a query for the info. Thanks. PAT

Thanks, you all have given me a lot to think about/look for when it comes to a tote.

I'll let you know what I do!

I hope you find out which one Philomena Pfaff needs, Pat. I love my Tutto bag! I bought the large one, even though my machine would have fit the smaller one; I can get lots of fabric and notions in there when I need it all for a class. I've never found a bag that rolls more smoothly, either. :)

Pat - My Pfaff 2056 fits in the medium bag but with no room for anything else. I have the large and can put mat, cutters, rulers, fabric, mini iron, etc in it. It is easy to overload making it harder to lift so I really try to take it easy. I also have the serger case which is perfect for fabric, and/or projects or clothes, should I need those too!!!!!

Your machine should fit just fine in either the medium or the large........

I have a Pfaff Grand Quilter that is pretty long. I got my rolling cart at Harbor Freight for like $19.00 last year. You never know what cool things are available at Harbor freight. I found a little wooden 4 drawer chest that holds all of my threads out of sight and contained really well for a great price as well. Also DH got me a magnifying lamp similar to the Ott light and magnitized bowls for pins for really cheap. When I drop a pin on the floor, I take my bowl and just wave it like a magic wand and find the pin in an instant. Have to make sure it is not near my sewing machine though I don't want to mess up any electronic parts if it has any.

Sandy: Thanks. Do you keep the SM in its own case inside the Tutto, or do you put it into the Tutto in its birthday suit? Sorry if this invades your SM's privacy, but I am just wondering the best way to maximize space with out compromising SM safety. ;) PAT in VA/USA

Laurie: Thanks. As I mentioned to Sandy, I wonder if it is best to load the SM with its own case, or without the SM case. I am concerned with safety, storage, and weight. PAT

Pat, I'm not Sandy, however . . .

I put my machine in the Tutto in it's birthday suit because there isn't room for the case - I bought the medium size Tutto. However, there are straps that belt the machine in quite snugly. There is something to be said for not having too big a case. When I used the big black monstrosity, there was too much room & I would fill it so full it was even heavier to carry.
