S.E.X and pain... The good, the bad, and the downright naughty!

OK, we'll start with the pain, coz that lead to the rest...

The fibro flare from the back end of last year was just dying down when I had a small gynae prosedure, and that set it all off again! rats! The swimming pool was shut for a fortnight just before then, and since then I've not been allowed to swim (not supposed to for six weeks: I might last the month!). Result: no way to work the kinks out of my system, the pills are not working too well, and I feel like my knees and elbows have rusted shut! OOWWEEE!

Constant nagging pain leads to depression. NOT a good thing... So I indulged in some retail therapy! Oops!

Just before Christmas I was in Hobbycraft, and I spotted some bright plain FQ's, so they went in the basket... So did a cute little pack of Christmas prints (I don't usually go for those!). I was *supposed* to be buying stuff for the school Christmas Stocking Event, but you know how that goes... :D

The other day I needed some pink thread and a zip, so we were back in there, and I picked up a nice set of FQ's in the sale: these will go to a pal as a squishy.

And then there was today! ooer...

2m brown wavy line quilting cotton 2m brown floral Paisley quilting cotton 2 plain white T shirts for James to tie-dye 1 plain black one because NO teenagers ever have enough plain black T shirts! 4m of embroidered and sequinned gold lace (well, it was fun!) 15m of blue upholstery fabric for re-covering my sofa...

Well, the 15m of upholstery fabric *is* to recover the sofa! And the whole of today's lot came to slightly under £40.

Trouble is, I'm going fabric shopping in London tomorrow, with Big Sis!

Polly: Here is your question:

How big is an 'm' ? Polly

My answer: m = meter; this is about 39 inches on your tape measure.

HTH.

Meantime, I am wondering why, OH WHY, my posts show up stripped of the first person's message. I hate that! I like to include at least part of what was said, to keep some continuity going.

If the shopping therapy works and you can keep it at a sensible level, then do it! I've had constant rather more than nagging pain for almost

3 years now and whilst my mood is not always top notch, it is mostly good and that's with me having a history of one very severe episode of depression 4-5 years ago. In some ways actually having had such a severe episode I feel has protected me through what classically should have me depressed, my episode was postnatal and the cause of the pain was a 2nd pregnancy and disasterous delivery, because I recognise some of the triggers, I know when I need to rest more, or focus on myself more. I'm thankful that my husband is very supportive of quilting and earns enough that I can buy things, sometimes if I've been feeling low for a few days, we go across the road to the mall, we eat at the food court (cheap!) and then I browse in JoAnns. I don't usually buy much, sometimes a fat quarter bundle, or some batting, but it works!

Geesh that fibro sounds so nasty. Hope you are feeling better soon, Kate.

Well, the fibro has been nagging me for 8 years: sometimes it's worse than others... Right now, not so hot, so a little retail therapy did me a power of good! And I can feel virtuous about the sofa covering fabric and the T's for James. :)

It is nasty. Feels like I have Housemaids Knee, tennis elbow, and all the tendons in my wrists have been replaced by red hot wires dipped in acid! And my ear hurts and my nose keeps blocking up, and...

NO! ENOUGH! I hate to dwell on it, coz that's when I get depressed. Mostly I make jokes about feeling like Grendel's Granny and The Hunchbum of Notre Damn! OUCH! I move in stop/motion, like Terry Pratchet's Gargoyles. It's just that the last year has been particularly irritating, and I finally snapped and broke my fabric diet good and hard! Oh, well - it was cheap, and it's a high fibre, low fat diet! ;)

And going to the funeral of a dear though distant relative last week did NOT help!

Wish I lived near you! I would really love to own a dinner dress in some color besides black, which is about all that's available in shops in my size. Can't even find fabric the right colors! Roberta in D

The fabric ordered om Monday arrived today...

Very scrumptious! Just what is needed to back and border something that needs dark brown.

More coffee and caramel than brown... Much yummier! Like Thorntons chocolates! ;)

Exactly as stated: will be perfect for the purpose.

It IS fun, but it's more brown than gold, which is probably more use!

SERIOUSLY solid stuff! And better than perfect for the job, in look, feel, colour, and cat-proofness!

No quilty fabric was bought on this tripo, which was at the other end of the spendy scale!

8m of silk habotai in the most glorious old parchment/ancient ivory/tea dyed sort of colour... Utterly lovely, and another Miss Havisham project. I do adore a customer who loves my wokr and trusts me enough to get the right fabric! 4m silk satin in a colour that used to be known as Ashes of Roses... The softest and most beautiful fabric on the planet! Bar none. It will be made up matte side out: another frock for Miss Havisham. 2m of serious poly microfibre crepe of the finest quality as a skirt project for Mum, who deserves a nice birthday prezzy. 5 fabulous buttons: huge and almost good enough to eat! In fact, as big as cookies!

Joel & Son is now my most favouritest Fab Fabric Emporium. They are SO nice to you in there. Mind you, spending almost £400 in there might have helped! :D Big Sis loved it, too, and bought some fabric for me to make her a posh frock for going to Glynebourne in. For such an event (opera in a garden) the frock needs to be both posh and machine washable in case it gets dipped in mud - which, when I think of last summer, is more than likely!

I need to go and sew... If you don't see much of me for a while, I'll be in the sewing room! Or just rolling in fabric!
