Have you e ver used the Star mercerized thread? Looks like a good bargain and seems pretty on the screen. LOL. Seriously, anybody used the stuff and is it any good?

My biggest objection to Star (which is made by Coats & Clarks) is that it is very linty & you have to be really diligent about keeping your bobbin case area clean, to avoid unnecessary build up. I try to stick with Aurifil & Prescencia, but I've been known to use anything else if the color is right:)
I've used a lot of the Star thread. It's somewhat more linty in my machine than some thread, but not as linty as Dual Duty. I like the Essential Thread from Connecting Threads . It is very nice thread -- not quite as nice as Aurifil, but a lot less expensive. I bought the set of neutrals.
I haven't tried Connecting Threads fabric yet, but a friend has and said it was very nice quality, though selection is somewhat limited.

Howdy!
Coats & Clark Star Hand Quilting Thread is a bit coarse, thicker than what I like (Gutermann).

Howdy!
What happened to Connecting Threads? Why have they gone to selling only their own fabric? Very limited supply, and the colors are rather muted. Good quality fabric, just not very interesting; I'll keep what I have ...or it will show up in the Baseball Swap after I've grown bored with it...which should be next round. Will try their thread.
