Metrosene Silk Finish Thread?

Apr 10, 2007 2 Replies

Is this thread pretty much for quilting only? There's some auctions on ebay and it's .50 wt. and the Art # is 1161. I have a box of the

28 spools 100 wt. I bought from Nancy's Notions and just love it and the Art # for these 28 spools is 1171. If I'm not going to be happy with the silk finish for everyday sewing I'll pass on these auctions.

Wish I knew more about these and what to look for.

Mettler threads are here:

-- but your item number and sizes aren'tlining up. Mettler silk finish is a nice, general purpose mercerized cotton thread. Metrosene is Mettler's polyester thread. Size 50 is the usual machine sewing weight; size 100 would be very fine thread indeed -- 70 or 80 is embroidery bobbin thread; I don't think Mettler makes size 100.

The box I have which is also on the site you posted is called 'The Metrosene Collection' from Nancy's Notions. It consists of 28 colors,

100 wt./3 ply 100% polyester, 109 yard spools, Art.1171.

This is from Nancy's website: All-purpose thread for any project. Made of long fibers, this quality thread is strong and resists breaking. Get all these colors in one convenient box.
