Saving for a crazy?

It's all Gen's fault. I looked over at eQuilter to see if they had a purple packet. Discovered a silk duponi packet with plaids and stripes that will be 'ah, just right' for the crazy I'm going to make one day. My crazy/fancy bin has plenty of velvet and solid silks but was sadly lacking the plaids and stripes that I just really hadn't been able to find. The packet has 16 fat 8ths which will be quite a bit more than I'll need. Anyone want to share with me? Respond by personal email and we'll work out a happy swap. Also - as to crazy. Do not do anything that will push you over the edge which will, of course, include diamonds and Vogue patterns. We're told that the asylum is full and will accept no more patients. The courts can only assign you to a responsible adult and they have run out of them too. It was bound to happen. Polly

Yep, I'm saving for a couple of crazies, pseudo-crazies, and a couple of all-velvet projects - I've got some velvet (but all dark solids - would like to find some medium & low values), quite a bit of (but need more) suedecloths and a nice pile of upholstery fabrics.

I'm curious what the fascination seems to be with silk? Are there particular reasons it is preferred to satins or other smooth shinys? DW is finishing (as I type) her current project with Dupion, and I expect the cloud of profanities to linger for several months...

It's the need for contrast, Doc. The slick of satin, the furry of velvet and the crisp of silk all make a wonderful symphony of texture. I'd love to have some floral taffeta but as yet haven't found any. Polly

My goodness Polly, haven't you made that crazy yet. You've talked about it for what 10 years or more. When you get that thing done, you are going to have to have a "one quilt" show for all of we RQ'ers. And for the chocolate to be served, I like chocolate fudge with pecans.

This crazy I'm saving for is for when I get old, Kate. Probably won't even begin it for another 20 years. Going to wear purple and a red hat, embroider every fancy stitch in the book, nip a little blackberry wine and maybe dip snuff. Polly

I have just finished cutting out the kimono silks for DD's jacket. Many of my leftovers are PURPLE -- DD's & my fav colour! I would be more than happy to send you a few bits & bobs for you to incorporate. That way your crazy quilt will have a truly international flavour :-). Are you in the directory?? Also, for anyone else reading this, I will be posting about needing a new home for a bunch of my kimono leftovers. Anyone interested, just let me know, OK? CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Good for you, Polly! I am also saving to make my own crazy in my old age. No rush. "Sew no fabric before its time!"

I will probably want some plaid stuff. When my strength improves I will access and root though my crazy stash. Then I can tell you what I have that YOU might want!

Ta for now, Pat
