sewing room pics

I have kind of been in the doldrums lately and decided to organize the sewing room. A week of disaster later it still isn't great but better. I folded fabric for days and days. I found things I didn't remember I had and have found old projects that long to be finished. The result is that I have too many project unfinished. Too much fabric and my room is too small. I really love this room and space anyway. Go figure. I have a big stack of 56 gallon plastic tubs that will go in the garage or a storage shed out back that will help a lot. For many years I had only a corner in one room or another but this little secondary bedroom is a happy place for me. I'd like a long table for one machine and a serger in front of the window. I built the shelves for that so one day maybe that will be a fun addition. In the meanwhile the $10 thrift store cabinet is pretty wonderful. Hopefully I'll get in there to sew soon!

What I wouldn't do for a room of my own. I share a spare bedroom with another person, three tables and a bookshelf. I have a desk for my machine, two shelves in the closet, plastic shoe boxes under my computer desk along with a six-drawer stack next to this table. Cutting happens elsewhere and the ironing board is attached to the door.

I love all your fabric stacked in the closet. I nearly fainted from envy.

Looking good, Taria. Hope you soon get the chance to get in and enjoy the space. The extra 'stuff' you have will resolve in time. Hope it makes you feel good/better to have achieved the sorting. . In message , Taria writes

Good, GOOD for you, Taria. My bins look like they've been tossed in a rock polishing drum. I need desperately to restore order. The Simple Stars quilt followed by the Peepers quilt both called for a piece of everything here and pandemonium was the result. You've inspired me. Not a whole lot but some. Polly

Well done, Taria - it looks so nice and organized now. I particularly drooled over your fabric stash. I need to get my fabric out in the open like that because I always forget what it is I have!!

You're in the right zone by making your room 'bigger' by removing stuff. Maybe you can put th tubs not so far away so they're easier to get to? Still, having more space does help with the creative energy so hopefully you'll get in there to sew and move those projects out. It's a lovely room that becons!

Howdy! Well, howdy-do! That's looking mighty tasty, Taria. Over there in that corner, down a little, ...next shelf.. yeah, that's it! Let's have a look at what you go there... mmm-hmm, that would do just fine. ... Oh, you did mean to share some of that, right? Isn't that why you're showing us the good stuff? Pick & choose? Shopping among friends. A month ago, younger son helped set up metal racks in the green room; I got stuff out of piles, off the floor, and kinda-sorta organized just a bit, so I can find things without hop-scotching across the room... or falling flat on my face stretching so far. The big tubs are still in the big closet, the extras are on the shelves, and the rest is in the dining room being transformed (into quilts, of course... or curtains... or art ). A little rearranging is always good to remind us "what's here" and "Oh, yeah, I forgot I had this!" ...still no UFOs...

Looks great Taria! I also found way too many UFOs and stuff I forgot I had when I started reorganizing so I feel your pain. lol Hope you enjoy your new space!

Put a paaste of 'Meat Tenderizer' mixed with plain water. Keep it on for no longer than 20 min at a time. Should take the 'ouch' and most of the swelling out. It works a treat on Hornets and Mosquito bites on me. I swell something awful from them and the Tenderizer usually gets it quite calmed down within the 20 min.
