Shipping from eQuilter ...

I don't mean to complain by any means, but is having something shipped from eQuilter a week after ordering it normal?? Do any of ya'll order from them regularly? If so, is taking that long normal??

I've not ordered from them in over 6 years, so I can't for the life of me remember if it took that long to ship last time. I usually order from Fat Quarter Shop (NAYY) and they ship the next day at the latest.

Again, not meaning to complain ... just wondering. I don't have a particular use in mind (at this moment) for the fabric, so it's not an "emergency" - but goodness, if it was ....

TIA!!

I can't answer regarding eQuilter because I have never ordered from them. I did place an order with another shop recently and had the same experience. I ordered on a Saturday the the ship date was the following Saturday. I am assuming that it is because of the holidays and year-end inventory, etc. that they are running a bit behind.

I also had a slower delivery recently, taking a few days longer to dispatch than normal, plus USPS taking longer than usual as well.

I am always delighted with eQuilter. If they were slow in shipping your order, you can be sure it was simply an extremely rare matter of something going wrong. Maybe they were suffering severe weather, computer woes or a round of the flu. Things can run amuck anywhere - don't hold one bad moment against them. Their reputation is very fine. Polly

Here was my complaint with Amazon this year. I paid extra for 2 day shipping. I thought that meant I would receive the stuff in 2 days. Nope. It means that when they get around to shipping it, it will only take 2 days to get here. I ordered on Thursday and they didn't ship until Monday. I got the stuff on Wednesday.

And I am definitely complaining.

Sometimes when there is foul weather across the country, people can't get to work or there are delays -- blizzards, tornadoes, floods, etc. like lately. There was a UPS truck that fell off the road during the snow near Carson City this week. That kind of stuff delays things. I don't know where eQuilter is physically located though. Oh, Colorado it says on their website. Didn't they have some weather in the past two weeks? At least it was not as bad as when the people were stuck in the Denver airport for days last year.

Some employers allow their employees to take time off during the holidays and after. And some non-essential (boy, have I slipped back into federalese) businesses shut down for the entire week. Especially the folks running family businesses where they can't just demand that their grunts (family members) come in to work any old time. A number of the online shops I patronize posted holiday periods when they would not be sending orders.

I have to commend Thousand of Bolts (and just one Nut). I ordered from them on Saturday and had the order on Wednesday.

That Amazon! I was looking at a fairly expensive toaster on Amazon. Then I got an email ad stating they were having a BIG January Sale. I went to order the toaster and they'd raised the price $16! I emailed their Customer Service about a BIG sale where they raised prices and got a silly, totally inappropriate, 'canned' response. I gave up. I'll make do with my cheap toaster and flipping and turning the bread three times. VBG But they shipped my dishes fairly quickly and they didn't get broken in transit.....

Alright ... I just didn't know if this was normal or not. Every other place that I've ordered goodies from has shipped the same day they charge my credit card. I thought that was the norm?

I really wasn't trying to besmirch eQuilter's reputation ... I just thought it was odd. And since I've not ordered from them in about 6 or so years, I wasn't sure if things had changed or if there was a problem.

And, if you look at their testimonials page, about halfway down, you'll see mine (Connie P). :)

Anywho, wasn't meaning to complain per se, just was wondering!

That's usually how it is from Fat Quarter Shop (NAYY, just a VERY satisfied customer - maybe they've spoiled me!). And they don't charge your credit card until they ship, either. Which, I also like a lot! :)

Their fabric ain't bad, either! :)

Ah ...

But I'll be getting the package two weeks after they charged my card for it (shipping itself will actually take only about 4 days). I've just honestly never, ever had it take that long (or had a company charge my card so early before actually shipping) - in the past several years that I've been ordering pretty much anything online, I've always had my card charged once it shipped AND had the item shipped within the week that I ordered it.

For example, I belong to the FQS Charm Club (again, NAYY, but they're the ones I order most from) and usually I get the item two days, tops, after I've been charged for it.

I wasn't trying to insult anyone or cause a fuss, I just thought it was a tad strange. Especially since there's no disclaimer that states that orders may not be shipped the same week that the card is charged or the item is ordered.

Wow, can't say I've ever noticed that kind of disclaimer before. I'll have to check that out from now on. I think I've had problems maybe twice in the

12 years or so I've been ordering on the Internet.

I always assumed they charged your credit card when you ordered the merchandise. If they waited until they shipped and the card was declined, then they'd have a bunch of fabric cut and no sale??? Or maybe they run the card info and then quick cut and package the fabric? hmmm.....

Connie, why don't you email Paul Rubin and ask? He responds very QUICKLY and in as much detail as you need until you are both satisfied that he answered your query (Unless there is something going on there that makes it a coupla days or so--then he'll apologize for not answering sooner).

He use to respond on this NG awhile ago but I haven't seen his post recently. Tell him you are an RCTQ'er and we were wondering :)

Haven't ordered from there in a few years so I don't know if policy has changed.

i always thot that it was common sense business practice to only charge the credit card after the purchase was shipped. there is the possibilty that they no longer had it in stock. also what if there is 'one' in stock and it was sent off to someone else but uh oh , they'd already charged you for it. if there is a week between charging and packaging the two could fall in two separate customer billing periods. not everyones billing period is the 1st to 31st of the month. mine starts and ends on the 10th, iirc, or thereabouts anyhow. then the customer has a bill on one statement to pay or be charged fees for late payment when the next month there will be a credit refund showing. not a good idea, oops. check here and see if there is any regulations about the charging time, Connie.
