Steam press?

While vacationing in VA two weeks ago I came upon a Euro-Pro steam press at a local thrift (I hit the thrifts when away from hime, too!) for only $20. It is in wonderful condition, and works perfectly.

I couldn't leave it there for that price.

It's a little awakward to use, for example, raising the top practically lifts the entire thing up the handle mechanism is pretty strong.

There was no manual with it.

I'm wondering if anyone here has one and is it practical for pressing quilt tops? Is there a trick to keeping the bottom from going up when you raise the top?

I absolutely was away, but not just in VA... DH and I went to my brother's for Easter (he lives near DC) and the then went on a 'road trip' to Jamestown Island, Virginia Beach, Rehobeth Beach, then back home. We had a great time and yes I stopped at thrifts along the way. I also brought home a wonderful vintage Brother sewing machine :)
