The Good and The Bad of Being Without a Computer for Six Days

Well hello friends. I have been without a computer since Friday evening (either a lightening strike or a power surge) and have been going through terrible withdrawal. The good thing about this -- I did manage to get lots of house cleaning, quilting and crocheting done; the bad thing -- I missed out all terribly. There are over 1000 posts to catch up on.

Glad we were missed! It's amazing how clean your kitchen can get when you're without a computer, telly, etc. Or have an essay to write. :)

Welcome Back! I check the group about 2-3 times a day as we leave our PC on all the time (we have cable internet). I really do suffer from withdrawals over the weekend when I don't get to the compy so often.

Sitting with fabric in hand is even better for what ails you.

A sign in the Corsicana Fruit Cake shop claims that "A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand." THAT is why we have two hands!

Yes, you are were greatly missed. I did major cleaning in the main part of the house (living room, dining room, kitchen and family room), now if I could just get off the computer, away from the sewing machine or stay off the golf course, maybe I could work on the bathrooms and bedrooms. But, I know that they days are getting shorter and before I know it we will start having those bad four letter words (snow, cold, etc), so I guess the rest of the house will have to wait. I do know that DH and I will have to spend at least one day power washing the siding and doing the windows on the outside (must be sure I have a nice clean view of the bird feeders during the winter months).

LOL, I only mentioned the house cleaning first because it was the most recent thing I had done. I spent all free time on Saturday, Sunday and Monday sewing or crocheting. On Tuesday, I spent most of the day running around town and doing errands. Then since Dell was supposed to come on Wednesday, that is when I started cleaning. Then they called and said they wouldn't be here until Thursday, so I slowed down and finished cleaning on Thursday. My sewing machine is set up on the dining room table and stays there until I have to clean off the table for Sunday dinner and since the computer is also in the dining room, I thought I had better get all those threads and bits of fabric swept up before he got here, lol.

Love in Stitches,

Coleen (not about to overdo it on the cleaning bit -- never!!!!)

Well chocolate does help, but I am mostly trying to avoid chocolate and with a known chocoholic (DH) in the house, he has been suffering greatly -- I have done the grocery shopping by myself for the past two weeks (we usually go together), I haven't bought any chocolate. But, bless his heart, I think I might make him a big batch of brownies when we get back from the golf course today.

Love in Stitches,

Coleen (should I make a double batch and share here???)

Thanks. Yes, mine is on all the time also, and I usually sit down several times a day to check how everyone is doing. I'm not going to tell anyone who many times I sat down at the computer desk to check mail/groups during those six days that the computer was down.

Thanks. Yes, there were so many messages on the newsgroups that I check on that I just had to mark most of them read -- there was no way to catch up. And I also had almost 600 e-mails to catch up on also. Still have a few of those to answer, but it will have to wait until later tonight or tomorrow. Ooops, just remember -- the NASCAR race is on tonight, so they will probably have to wait until tomorrow.

I like the 'batter' better than the brownies!

Evidently he does too. The brownies just wouldn't get done, but he and DS said they wanted to eat them in the partially-baked-gooey state - so they did. :-)

Love in Stitches,

Coleen (and DH beat DS to the bowl)
