The Houston Quilt show

Well, the sun is shining and the day is much brighter today for lots of reasons. Let me share them with you...

  1. The day started with a phone call from the post office: 300 boxes of quilts and linens for QUILTERS COMFORT AMERICA arrived today! How marvelous of all of you who have helped and who have helped spread the word for us about this project. I know there are tons more coming, based on the emails I've received, so this is just going to be the tip of the iceberg! We've already delivered the few that came in last week, and if you could see the faces of the folks we got them, you would know just how important this project is. Not the project itself, of course...but the quilts and the love that is IN the quilts being shared from one stranger to another stranger in need. What is happening with these quilts truly is heartwarming.

  1. The ,000 match for Red Cross donations was hit on Friday, and that donation was made immediately. Today my assistant got back from vacation and is downloading more than 3600 emails about more donations! 3600! I believe that matching offer and the innate generosity and kindness of quilters everywhere could end up raising as much as ,000 for the Red Cross.

  2. As word spreads on their location, the evacuees are hearing from family members outside the disaster area, and the families are beginning to arrive in droves to pick them up and take them home to start their new lives! Already the thousands that were being housed in the George Brown Convention Center are dwindling
300 boxes!!!! Awesome!!! We are working on double-flannel-no-batting blankets today.
