Thyme To Water

Holey, Moley! Wasn't there someone else doing this BOM? I just got the finishing kit in the mail and I thought that whole flower pot border was PRINTED on the fabric. No, it's pieced. This is going to take forever!

If y'all want to see what I'm whining about, here it is:

See all those flower pots? They're blocks. Not printed. Cindy

Cindy, that is adorable. just checked and each flower pot is once on each side, so 4 of each. why not applique them over the border, rather than piece them. i'd measure each one at the top (widest) add seam/hem allowance(if you hand piece them like i would, cuz i cant do machine applique for beans), then multiply X 4. cut out a strip that length and cut out the 4 pots from that. i'd back the pots with interfacing(sew to front of fabric, slit the interfacing and turn rightside out method). then i'd applique them in place. for me that would be far far easier than piecing them. unless you paper piece, that might be easier, tho for me maybe not. lol. either way, you CAN do this, girl!!!!!

what colours did you make yours? it'll look ever so cute for springtime. j.

Ooooo. Jeanne. Appliqué might be the way to go. And I can machine appliqué like crazy.

My quilt looks exactly like the sample. Really, really nice fabric. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I'm thinking about the Rosebud Lane.

Hey, Cindy, I'd applique them too. Much faster than piecing and then appliqueing the leaves and such. The pots would be easy since they each would be done with two "almost" rectangles. Straight lines are super easy to applique. Debra in VA See my quilts at

But, Cindy! It's so darling and so fresh and pretty- it's worth it! Just get tough and dive right in- pieced or applique- which ever you pick. You can do it! And we wanna see pics of the final finished quilt, too.

You SAW the end result. It looks just like the picture. Same color and everything. Just pretend it's mine.

Cindy, that quilt is adorable! I can certainly see why you wanted to make it. As for the border, just do a block at a time -- like eating an elephant. ;)

Sandy, I've never heard that phrase before ... and I have to say, the visual just made me giggle! :)

** No elephants were harmed in the above visual**

Hugs!!

Howdy!

The flower pot border is just a row (4) of tumblers. Each of these has a strip sewn on to it for a place to add the leaves. Tumblers are not difficult to assemble:

Right now it's chopped up in pieces and living in a pizza box. Where it will live after it magically comes out of the pizza box all put together is anybody's guess.

It matches not one single thing in any part of my house. I just liked it.

Sounds like you need to do some redecorating. It would be a lovely theme to start a decorating scheme! I'm always up for a new look! C'mon! Get wild and crazy! VBG

Ha! I live in a boring little ranch style house- with absolutely NO style and NO personality. And I love Victorian and English country garden and that fou-fou type stuff in my house- flowers, ruffles, lace, plants, pretty glassware on display, etc. So I just ignore what can't be changed and go with what makes me happy!

I'm seeing "cottagey". I love that look. I just don't have the house to go with it. Lots of oak and too traditional.
