To the Scrap lovers only

Last fall when I was in a totally uninspired funk, I took the strips from the Scrap Bin and divided them into hot and cold. Next, the strips were randomly cut to assorted lengths - generally 3 to 5" and stitched together in no order whatsoever except they were kept in hot and cold categories. Yesterday, I appliquéd a Happy Snowman on a square of polka-dotted black. All it needed to become a delightful preemie quilt was a few trips around with the string of bright scraps. The next time your creativity has disappeared, go play in the scraps. It's a good place. Polly

You know I'm not a scrappy person; but I do quite like the idea of an 'unfettered' border on a non-scrappy quilt. Thanks for the great idea. I have parcelled up quite a lot of scraps, but I did keep my box of strips i.e. cut accurately, so I could readily do this. I could even keep them in colour ranges if I wanted to. I have one or two in my coming year's planned work, that might need some livening up!! . In message , Polly Esther writes

When I have little bits of fabric left over, I slice them into 2" squares and toss them into a box. They add up fast - great for scrappy projects!
