The book is Fabric Photo Play, with my own shortcuts thrown in. I can honestly say that this is THEE most satisfying and gratifying technique I have learned yet. Another new venture lies just around the corner also, in order to finish this wall hanging. I have never done any free motion quilting.....

WOW, wow, wow!! I am awed. I've seen pictures of these finished but never realized what went in to it. You should be very proud of yourself! I'm with Leslie, did you take a class, do you have a book, just some inner talent we can only hope for, please tell all, we want details!

It's not difficult IF you are willing to read and do as the book says, especially with preparing the photo and the pattern. Each step takes time, but they are all simple in themselves. The reason I like this particular book is that I can read it and understand it! And like I said, I did add a big shortcut which made sense to me, and I'm glad I did. This is taking a long time as it is. But no - no natural deep inner ability here. It's something anyone can do.

Okay, Karen, stop with the modesty! VBG You are VERY talented... proof is in that *you* improved upon the book's instructions with your 'big shortcut'. ;-) Take the credit, dear. You deserve it!

I forgot to mention that DH has this all figured out too. He walked in here, looked at the floor full of discarded pattern pcs., fusible snippets, and fabric scraps. Then he looked at the wall where the pattern is hanging, and my progress on the table. He said, "I see. You just cut away everything that doesn't look like a massage, and you got it. Right?" Right!

ummmmmmmm....so ya gonna tell us about your shortcut? Do we need to grovel (I can do that), hijack another semi full of chocolate for you (the second time should be easier) or are you taking your genius to the grave like Houdini. LOL Inquiring minds want to know!!

I don't mind sharing, but I don't think it would make sense if you're not familiar with the process, ya know what I mean?

Surprise surprise...I have that book... Did you have to collect fabric specifically for that project? Or have you found fabrics in your stash that work just on the color value? I have a picture that I'd love to try making with that technique. Hummmm...maybe after the two weddings later this year. My plate is getting full.

I had to shop just for this project, but often you will be able to find at least some of the values right in your stash, if not all.
