update on my manager

I don't know if anyone remembers, but over a year ago, I had posted about my manager who was diagnosed with breast cancer and I was wondering about a quilt I could make for her.

I did make a simple one, blue squares on point (no pink at all!), which was delivered in person by another colleague (my manager is in a different state from me) who was traveling at the time. The quilt was extremely well received.

Anyway, about a month ago, she announced that she is now free of the cancer (after a double mastectomy, chemo, blah blah blah, weight gain from steroids, now she's young, but in full-blown menopause as a side effect of the chemo). I saw her for the first time recently and she looked good! Her hair had grown back a bit.

Giving her the quilt did not make things awkward at all, nor did it seem like I was trying to gain anything. I'm just happy the quilt was received in the same spirit that I made it in, and that it worked and she is now well!

It's always nice to hear when someone battles cancer..... and WINS!!!! Here's to her continued cancer-free status. Sounds like she's been to hell and back... but hopefully now she can move forward with confidence.

Also glad to hear that the HUG gave comfort where needed. That IS what they are for... after all!!!

What terrific news, Anita -- both about her cancer, of course, and about the way the quilt was received! Woohoo! :D
