Webshots Quilt & Weaving Photos

Hi Guys, I just uploaded several new photos to Webshots. There's one of the {{{Quilt}}} I made for my DNiece, Lisa and two of me at the loom when I took the weaving class. There are also several of the SMDGD on her last day of kindergarten and a bunch from the birthday trip to D'land. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

That looks like a Nilus LeClerc jack loom. They are fun to use. I am going to order a bunch of parts from them and build myself a loom, as soon as I finish doing some "honey do" work on the house. I built one many years ago and really enjoyed using it. Now that I have more space available for such things, it is starting to sing it's siren song again.

Beats the devil outta me :-). The loom belongs to the teacher (she has about eight different ones). I all know is that she gets them from some little old man up in north GA (Blue Ridge area, I think). He's been making them for years, learned from his father who learned from his father........ I really enjoyed the weaving part. Getting the loom set up is a killer for me, what with the arthritis and spinal problems. I had no trouble sitting there weaving and really do need to get the [projects finished so I can put them up at Webshots!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Oh Michelle -- not lucky at all because of the reason she needed a HUG :*( . This is the niece who was preggers but lost the baby at five months. She was really hard hit and NEEDED to have a special HUG from her Tia. I have asked her to take better photos and she will do that as soon as she gets her camera figured out -- LOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

That means it is not a Nilus LeClerc. That is a loom manufacturer in Canada, who is one of the largest manufacturers of hand looms on the North American continent. It might be a copy made by a local craftsman using parts that are purchased from Nilus. The 'jack Loom' describes the type of shed that is created by the loom when the pedals are pushed down. The motion of the warp threads are rising and create the shed through which you pass the shuttle. There are three main types of loom. Jack, Counterbalanced, and Countermarche. Each type creates the shed differently, and each has it's advantages and disadvantages, depending on what you are trying to weave. There are other types of loom but these are the three most common types of hand weaving loom and what is commonly available in todays market. weaving is great fun, much like quilting. You get to play with wonderful textural stuff, and have fun producing something, hopefully, beautiful. have fun.

Oh dear, Mary. I do remember seeing your post about her, but didn't put it together. Still, I maintain she is very lucky to have an aunt who cares about her and loves her so much.
