and yes some people take copyright too far while other see the word copyright and think is a brand name and free to be ignored

That's very weird. I *thought* a copyrighted item meant that you couldn't claim the fabric design as your own. This would be like telling me that after I bought a book I read and no longer wanted to keep, I couldn't stick it in a garage sale and sell it to someone else. Sounds a little fishy to me.

There really are a lot of silly laws out there. It is similar to the fact that I can buy or rent a movie for myself but I can't show it to the youth group at church without having a special license that most small churches cannot afford.

I'm jumping in here to clarify that this is (most likely!) NOT the wonderful store, of the same name, that sells fabric in Portland. That store is one of my favorites (NAYY) and it's like walking into Home Depot for fabric lovers. They have a web site and use the same name of Fabric Depot. It seems the fabric mfg has some nerve to copyright a well known name in the same business - Ha Ha Ha!!! Serves them right.
