Went to the Quilt Show

Not bossy at all - all advice to avoid spinning round in circles appreciated! We always try to arrive as the doors open - usually have a little time without the crowds! (except on last and final trip to Chelsea when trains stopped in the middle of nowhere making it a 5 hour journey, and only 3 hours at the show before we had to leave to catch booked train home.

It would be lovely to have a meet up. I have had a quick look at Creative Exhibitions site but they are still in 2006! Twisted threads have pre-booking for tickets - I presume they are linked to Creative Exhibitions. Very busy day today though - wasn't even going to read mail but needed a 5 minute(?) break.

Must check if DD will be open for visitors then! She may even want to come too.

What and where is this show you're speaking of, Pat?

It's in Birmingham, Kathyl. It's a very large city, and the National Exhibition Centre is a wonderful place - used for all sorts of things. Birmingham is pretty much in the centre of the country, and transport links have been made deliberately good: road, rail and air.

It is called Festival of Quilts. It is a wonderful mixture of an Open Competition, in all the usual categories; several special exhibitions; lots of stallholders; classes - taster ones of about an hour and long, in depth ones (upstairs!! in peace and quiet). There is one juried section for the Quilt of the year (in their opinion!). There are also little booths where specialist quilters do continuous demonstrations, so you can learn bits and pieces in a few minutes - for free.

I'm lucky in that I live within reasonable distance of both Malvern and Birmingham + many smaller shows in England and mid-Wales.

I can give you more specific details

Sounds lovely! Drat! One of my good friends' daughter was going to school in Birmingham for a couple years, but she's back in the US now. It looks like you live in a very good place for attending quilt shows Pat. Next year you'll be at all of them signing books! :-) Now that would be neat to see!

Well, it might even be this year! if the publisher gets a wriggle on. Today is supposed to be the day I get the proofs - no sign, though. He doesn't have a highly defined sense of timing >gg< He *said* printing was scheduled for April. Of course, maybe I assumed incorrectly that he meant 2007!! . In message , KJ writes
